6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

I can find Gatwick but nothing to Oakland. Also find it odd that they don't fly on Fridays from Oakland to CPH...
Most west coast flights fly out of Heathrow, not Gatwick.
Heathrow (LHR) is an extra hours travel past Gatwick (LGW) in a car.

Neither of the airports above are actually in London, despite them saying London Heathrow etc.

I was looking at the Norwegian flights....I can fly from Oakland, California to CPH but not from London to Oakland.....

I'll be tuning in ... love the Amazing Race!

My kids and I love it too. I have added a number of places around the world to my travel bucket list based on the Amazing Race. Added the Shetland Islands based on the last episode. I've been to Copenhagen but still excited to see AR there next episode.

Welcome back! I've only managed to read the first few of Scott's blog posts, but sounds like you had a great trip.

Hello all! I'm finally jumping in to say hi and officially say that DH and I will be on this cruise. We are very excited about this trip, but we are also very busy and have not planned much yet...just airfare so far. Eeek! :crowded: I know I need to get planning, but can someone please slow the clock down a bit?? LOL.

I know we know many of you, have cruised with some of you for years! I had to re-register on Disboards cause I kept forgetting my password and don't access the email account I originally signed up with, so my user name is a little different, but we're the same folks!

Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and can't wait to get to know those of you we haven't met yet!

Cheers, Kara

:welcome: aboard!

Thank you, thank you!!

For folks still looking at booking airfare, our experience is that you should really avoid Gatwick if at all possible. It's a terrible, super confusing airport that is not easy to get to if you stay in London after the cruise. We flew out of there once, against the advice of some friends of ours who live just outside of London. We really regretted not taking their advice. From our experience, it's not worth saving $100 a person on airfare.

Have a lovely morning all!

Ironically, we were told this trip and last trip to London to avoid Heathrow for the same reason.

LOL, and San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Newark, etc, etc....I know, the busiest airports all have their challenges as well as their supporters. Just my two cents based on having used both Heathrow and Gatwick, we will not go through Gatwick again if we can avoid it.

I'm really sorry you had a negative experience of Gatwick. It's actually much smaller than Heathrow and much better in our opinion. We've flown multiple times from both and we'd always choose Gatwick first, it's so much smaller and easier!
We flew with Icelandair in Sept and it was great, have also heard good things about Norwegian.

Hi All,
Apparently we were lucky enough to book a cabin on this awesome cruise today... :hyper: We are in a GTY. It's me and my dd (9yo)...

Now I am panicking about getting the airfare...:worried: Flying from S. Florida. Gatwick or Heathrow? Any suggestions will be forever appreciated.

Thanks
