6/26/2014 - 9 Night Mediterranean Cruise, Venice, Italy

We are a family of 3--dh Adam, ds Zac (14 at sailing) and me Lisa. We just completed the Med on the Magic with Venice (6/27-7/09) and it was amazing. My hubby surprised me with the notion to book this cruise and we are so excited about seeing Greece and Turkey. This will be our 8th DCL cruise, 4th on the Magic and we have sailed all 4 DCL ships. Super excited to meet you all and would love to participate in the FE (room 2631).

We had to cancel our 2013 Med. cruise-so, are now booked on this one I'll hold off on joining the FE until we're locked in. Will be traveling with DH, DS 17, DD 15, Disney Friend, and her DD 17. We're in connecting 9D 1050 & 1052. Just booked Hotel Olimpia. Great reviews, close to the bus station and People Mover.

I just booked a hotel room in Venice for 3 night's pre-cruise. It's a Ca' Angeli. I was able to get a room for all 4 of us which is always a challenge. It's not fancy. Only 7 rooms in the whole place, but it looks like a great location, good price, and great views of the canal.

I've started looking at airfare - ouch...

My family and I just debarked from the Disney Magic's 12-night Eastern Med cruise. All of the ports were beautiful. While Rome and Athens were on most people's bucket lists, I heard a lot of passengers say that Kushadasi (Ephesus) was simply amazing and one of their favorite stops. I would have to agree. We are really looking forward to visiting it again next June and seeing even more of the Greek Isles. We only did Disney excursions, but if anyone has questions about Athens, Mykonos or Kushadasi, I would be happy to answer them.

We took all Disney excursions. Traveling on our own makes us too nervous, especially when we hear about people missing the boat, which happened when we were in Malta. Our tours were: Athens - Acropolis Sightseeing and Archaeological Museum with Lunch; Kushadasi – Ephesian Modus Vivandi; Mykonos – Delos Island. The cruise stopped in Mykonos after our trip to Kushadasi, so we were a little disappointed in Delos Island, primarily because we were spoiled with the fabulous ruins in Ephesus. (I heard the same reaction from other families on our cruise.) I recommend that anyone doing a tour to Ephesus include the Terrace Houses. I’m typing up notes, but it’s too long to post on Facebook and the Disboards, but feel free to send me a PM. The cruise next year does not stop in Rome, but for this cruise we did Jumping Back to Eternal Rome.

I recommend that anyone doing a tour to Ephesus include the Terrace Houses.

I second this. DH and I were in Ephesus three years ago and the terrace houses are a must-see. Right now we're doing the ABD add on and I don't think it goes to the terrace houses.... Really wish it did, they're right there in the middle of the ruins and it doesn't take too long to see them.

That's great that we'll be sail mates! It will be nice to see you, Sheila and your children again! Yes, we did seem to be on the same schedule. Funny, some people you keep bumping into and others you don't see at all! Am I mistaken or were planning on spending time in the states after the cruise. Colorado????

Can't wait to see Venice and Rhodes, plus the new stop in Greece, which I think is close to where the first Olympics were held.

We leave tomorrow to spend a week in Colorado and then we will enjoy a week on Disney's Fantasy with a trip to St. Maarten and St. Thomas/St. John. It will be our first time on one of the new ships. It will also be our 5th cruise, so we'll be gold for our sailing out of Venice. I can't wait to see all the changes to the Magic next year. I took lots of pictures of the ship last week so I can have before and after photos.

Does anyone have any links to the hotels that Disney will use or hotels that people plan to use on the Venice cruises. We're starting to look at hotels for a pre cruise stay and we'd like to narrow down the area of Venice that is convenient to get to and not too expensive.
