I wish we could get from our Disney Property Hotel to somewhere closer for the launch in the morning :sad2:...but for those of you that are lucky enough to be able too you might find this info useful.

To View a Shuttle Launch

Florida Off-site Viewing Locations The following are some of the most popular off-site locations for viewing launches from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida:

Along the Indian River on U.S. Highway 1, especially in Titusville.

The Beach Line Expressway, also called State Road 528. The portions of the Beach Line crossing over the Indian River (the Bennett Causeway) and the Banana River are good vantage points.

Off State Road A1A along the Atlantic Ocean in Cocoa Beach.

Jetty Park (321) 783-7111 at Port Canaveral, on the Atlantic Ocean just south of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station border. Both Space Shuttle and expendable launch vehicle liftoffs can be viewed from here. The park is open all day year-round (Admission required).

Date: June 13 +
Mission: STS-127
Launch Vehicle: Space Shuttle Endeavour
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Launch Time: 7:19 a.m. EDT +

If you look up in the right direction at the right time, you'll be able to see it from wdw. Last time we were there and walking into the animal kingdom, everyone was looking and pointing up. We looked up and there it was!

We have never cruised during a Space Shuttle launch weekend. Any idea on how this additional traffic may effect getting to the DCL terminal?

I just looked and no cabin assignments yet.:sad1::sad1: I will be watching the shuttle from my room or I may go outside to watch it. I think that would be awesome to see. DH said he does not plan on being awake for it. LOL I am going to try to get some pictures- I probably will be up because I'll be so excited!!

:sad1: Sad to see DisneyPoly canceled her trip.... she erred on the side of caution. Don't think she posted it here yet (I know she is really busy) but saw it on Alert: Swine flu thread. She had 2 cat 12s. *Stephanie ~ they were part of the FE exchange*

Hope nobody else cancels... I want to meet everyone!!! :flower3:[/font]
I agree! :goodvibes

Hello All...

We just booked our Cruise last night for these dates. This will be our 12th Disney Cruise. We will be traveling with our DD (18) and her girlfriend (19) and DH. Also traveling with our good friends and their 4 children (DS 13, DD 12, DS 9 and DS 6). We are Jeff and Kathy.
Welcome!! :thumbsup2

Ok so I have officially lost my mind! :lmao:

This checking for room assisgnments is going to kill me! :rotfl:

I don't know how you people have been waiting for so long!

Oh and grandma has come around to liking the idea. She and DH take time to process things and don't handle change well. We talked about it last night and are awaiting our room assignments to see what we get!
Join the madness. ;)

Yeah!!! Our freinds finally got the Cat 12 deal!! Today!!! They have been trying for the past month or so and finally got them today!!

So you can add: DM- Theresa , DH, DS age 7 and DS age 4
From Dallas like us.:)
Yea!! :cool1:

I just checked out the Atlantis website and it looks like fun! If we end up going to Nassau we'll probably do this, too. I'll have an extra wristband for you!
You are awesome! That would be great. :worship:

Well yesterday was double dose of happiness in the mail: DD's new Passport (it took 5 weeks to get in) and my new Passporter Guide to DCL. DD immediately announced that her picture was hideous (hello? it was the same one that we gave the lady in the Post Office.. not as if it was switched out for another) and that her NEW passport was cooler than my old one.

While I was reading my Passporter book on the couch, DD went into my bedroom and "Punk'd" it with a row of Mickey Stickers from our last WDW visit and put two stuffed Minnies on my pillow. She said that I was a little overly excited (so sue me) for this cruise.

I finally broke down and told my Mom that we were going and she was all "Aren't you cruised OUT?" to which I replied NEVER! I dream of moving to Castaway Cay when DD goes to college...
Glad everything came. And can I join you when she goes to college? I think my trio could come visit there on break as easy as Atlanta... :woohoo:

6 weeks until our cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:dance3:I am so excited!~

I was wondering the same thing.

the madness should be over and done with and we, cruisers, will be going AGAINST the crowd leaving Pt. Canaveral/Cocoa Beach/KSC area. (In fact, many will likely "make it a day" and go to the beach since it is a Saturday morning launch). We should be fine UNLESS the takeoff gets pushed to 10am or so which would jam things up.

Ok, so nothwithstanding the fact that I have MEMORIZED my ressie # (as if it were my Social Security # or something), can I please say OUT LOUD that it makes me CRAZY (ok, sad :sad1:) when I go to retrieve my ressie in the DCL system and I have to scroll down what feels like decades (which it is, but who is counting?) to get to my year of birth??? I have tried and tried to keep this a well kept secret at work and believe myself to be in a healthy state of denial (39 was good enough, thank you, I needn't go further) but am I the only one that feels like "hey, whoa, stop it" on the scroll bar action find your year???

So my question to DCL is, WHY OH WHY would you start with 2009 and go backwards when a BABY can't book a cruise, silly? Couldn't they just make us fabulous old broads :hippie: feel a wee bit better and start at say, 1991, which would at least make someone 18???

My rant about getting older -- and DCL reinforcing it -- for the day....

PS - let's not start on the bathing suit "woobly parts" (Bridget Jones anyone?) discussions :rolleyes1

I agree- it would make more sense to start at a different number- I also automatically think that too- I thought I was the only one. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK... as of right now, I have a room at the Comfort Suites in Nassau. How do we get to & from the ship?

Jayde said YES as long as Larry does the waterslides with her!!! She was totally against us going there!

Come pick me up I will sit up and watch it with you HA HA!!!! Larry Deb, and Jayde will be with me too :o)

AWESOME!!!!!! Wow, she must have talked to Larry about it last night when they were texting forever... Since I know you are an hour later than us I told Larry to tell Jayde shouldn't she be in bed now, it's a school night. She gave me an LOL - HA HA

Larry will be so excited when I get home and tell him.

We will get a van / car from the port and tell them where we need to go and they will take us.

If Stephanie and her family want to go at the same time we can get one of the larger vans and share the cost (Safety...in #'s also).

Stephanie what do you think? We could meet on the ships and go off together.

Watch now after all of these alternate plans they will switch this on us.

I agree I'm sick of scrolling so much... even more depressing are those you must be born before this date in 19xx to purchase alcohol. I think it's like 1988.... I think that's the year I graduated college.

Cab ride is $12 each way from ship :woohoo:

We're going to book too. Do you think that if we do go to Nassau that it will be on Thursday, or could we go on Wednesday? I was wondering if I should just book both days just in case June 17 & 18th). We'd be interested in sharing a cab/van too.

Just rent a car for one way of your transfers...it will cost the same as DCL transportation and you can get to the ship early.

I am happy to share a van with you guys! :thumbsup2

There is a good chance they will change all of this but I would rather have a plan in place! :thumbsup2
