Anyone else following the "Age enforcement" thread on the main page? I am amazed at how many people appear to vehemently oppose kids in the quiet cove area for any reason even for a cursory check-in. I am getting to be an old geezer (51) and for whatever reason kids really don't bother me (except of course my own sometimes), I am the guy who has actually switched seats on an airplane to sit next to the mother and child when someone else made a fuss. I guess I tend to "give benefit of the doubt" not knowing why someone violates the "rules". I am not trying to start a discussion here just felt a need to vent and after reading the thread for several days I was almost afraid to post this seemingly unpopular opinion.

I don't mind the kids checking in, but we were on one cruise where one family brought the kids-about 10 yr old-to the adult pool every day until a CM asked them to leave each time. I usually just take a chair near the Goofy pool because of Brandon-I don't like him having to come to the adult pool to look for me.

Hey Everyone!
Wanted to say that Tshirts can be a hassle I think if one person tries to order all of them but if we can pick a design then we can just order individual ones and maybe just put iron on transfers on the back if you want or just make sure you have on the same color.......
Has anyone seen the new designs of the Ts on Disney.... they are cute

they have kids and adult sizes!

What is everyone doing for FE gifts-one per cabin, one per person? Do we have a count of about how many are participating? I have to start thinking of what to do?

Are we doing a gift exchange at the meet up too?

I am doing one FE per cabin and then something for each child.

We set an April 1 date for anyone to join. I think there are currently about 17-19 Disers participating. Shortly after April 1, Nikki should be about to give a good list, it probably will not have all cabin numbers yet since there are a lot cat 12.

I like the ideal of each group bring 1 item for a gift exchange at the meet and doing a drawing. I think it has been suggested as an item that represents the area you are from.

That's what I'm doing as well.

That's a good idea about bringing something from the area you're in- I think I'm gonna bring a bushel of steamed crabs- do you think they'll let me on the ship? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Has anyone done the mini alcohol bottles before? Do you put them in your suitcase? Is there any problem with having them in your carryon?
We got those in our last FE and thought they were one good idea. It's so hard to know what people will like. Last time we did a bag for each room with something for the adults and for the kids and also made a CD of cruise music, but didn't get any feedback from anyone-so I don't know what to do this time.

Do you usually leave it anonymously-or put your name on it? It was fun getting the gifts--how about someone gave candy and one nice guest opened ours-bit it-and put it back in the FE--UGH!!

Pick me! Pick me! :yay: :yay: We've lived and traveled alot of other places in the US and their version of MD style crabs does not even come close to my hometown Bal'more steamed crabs! We'll be up visiting family in MD right after the cruise for a week so we'll get our fix then! Any good new (or old) places to get steamed crabs, Nikki? We're having a midsummer party (Finnish custom -I'm half Finn) and would like to get a bushel of crabs! OOOH, I'm salivating right now, just thinking about them!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Anyone make an FE? I'm looking for dimensions, place to find fabric, etc. No, I'm not making mine, but I have a great seamstress who will! :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:I haven't bought crabs in years- usually wherever we're going to eat crabs- has them already when we arrive. LOL We used to get them from Sea Pride/Bay Island(I grew up around the corner from there), but haven't gotten any from there in a long time. I'll only eat them occasionally- not a huge crab picker- give me a steak instead!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Has anyone noticed how much slower the board is since the update??

I spent some time on CC & found a couple things to do in Cozumel. Someone suggested taking a taxi to Pancho's Backyard www.panchosbackyard.com which is inside Los Cinco Soles store then walk back.

Also, read that Grand Cayman is very expensive for shopping & Magic will be 1 of 4 ships (3 Carnivals) in port (approx 10,000+ tourists). 2 others including us will be @ the Royal terminal but we are the first to dock. Here is a link: http://www.caymanport.com/schedule.htm

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Sorry to hear you are ill. Take care and hopefully it passes quickly. :thumbsup2

Sorry.. I meant how slow the board is to load. Maybe it is just my computer but it is taken forever.

I copied this from another thread. Hope it helps.

Supplies:

2 yards of fabric (two colors – one yard each)
Double fold bias tape
Dowell Rod
Iron-On Patches
1 Package of Iron-On Interfacing
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew Ultra Hold 7/8 in. hem
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew 1 Yard
Various Colors of Ribbon

1. Cut fabric to be used as the body of the FE to be 8 in. wide by 58 in. in length. When folded the FE will be 29 in. in length.
2. Cut fabric for the three pockets, cut each pocket 11 in. wide by 12 in. in length. When folded each pocked will be 6 in. in length.
3. On the inside of the FE body piece and each pocket iron on the interfacing. Once cooled completely I ironed on the sheet of Heat-n-Bond cut 8 in. by 29 in. to the inside of the body of the FE.
4. On each of the 3 folded pockets I made pleats so that the pockets were 2 in.-pleat-4 in.-pleat 2 in. To secure the pleats I used the Heat-n-Bond Ultrahold hem. This was done on the cut side so that the top edge would be folded and clean.
5. Next I used the heat-n-bond hem to add 8 in. strips of the double fold bias tape to the bottom of each pocket.
6. Next I lined up the pockets on the body of the FE starting 8 in. from the top and then about 1 in. apart. I market the spots with a pencil and secured the bottom and sides of the pockets using the heat-n-bond hem.
7. Once all cooled. I used the double fold bias tape for the perimeter of the body of the FE which again was secured using the iron on hem.
8. Once cooled I ironed on the patches to each of the pockets.
9. I then folded down the top of the FE about 2 inches and secured to the back of the FE by the iron-on hem creating a little opening to insert the dowel rod.
10. Using the multicolored ribbon I made it long enough so that the FE would hang approximately 7-8 in. from a hanger.
11. For our names I bough iron-on computer paper and printed the names on the computer. Then I cut and surrounded the paper with double fold bias tape attached using the iron-on hem. Finally I ironed on the name piece.

I think that’s all. I’ve never tried to write directions for anything like this before. Everything I used I bought from either Wal-Mart, Michaels, or Joann’s Fabrics.

Here's the picture again of the final result.
