who clelbrates birthdays and anniversaries on the cruise that are not during the cruise week?
My son's birthday is May 7 and he always complains we never celebrate it at WDW or on a cruise since it is during school. Stephanie said she'd make him a magnet for our door and I wondered what everyone thinks of having a cake at dinner. My parents will celebrate their 53rd anniversary in July and I would like to celebrate this since we won't be there to celebrate with them on the day.

What is everyone doing in Key West?
I have been looking at privately operated excursions through Fury, Sunset and Sebago but we arrive too late for the "all day" ones and several companies won't do parasailing from 1 - 3pm due to chance of thunderstorms...

What are you all doing in Key West? We've walked Duval Street many times; looking for something new...

Thanks - Good to know. I have never cruised anything but Disney! Maybe if I EVER meet Mr. Right, ( = me holding my breath) we can go on one for a honeymoon!

Hey, Diane, if he's not YOUR Mr. Right, pass him over to me, would ya? Maybe he'd be mine :rotfl2:

Absolutly celebrate it! It is ok that it was in May. We are lucky that both the girls share the same birthday and that it is the first day of the cruise. I would absolutly be celebrating it though if it was somewhere around their birthdays! :thumbsup2

A bunch of us are doing the parasailing through Fury. It is 35pp which is great compared to DCL. A couple are doing teh 1pm slot and a big group are doing the 2pm slot.

We're just doing the trolley tour.

Sounds like a plan! I liked the look of Fury and the cost is SO MUCH better than through Disney (or vs Castaway Cay). I wish we could do an all-day thing because they look like a great value, too.

I would LOVE to do the all day package that they have. We just get in too late! Iwonder if we got a group together if they would be willing to leave a little later????

As for RC: my DD couldn't do anything, ice skate, rock wall, due to the ship rocking & rolling the WHOLE cruise. She did roller blade, as much as she could with ship R&R & we tried to play putt putt. Other than that, it was horrible! Yes the pools are bigger, but they are salt water, YUCK! Service was horrible, one bar tender was more interested in soccer on tv than waiting on us & by the way, he didn't wait on us! WOW. We had only cruised 2x before RC & it was on disney...guess if we wouldn't have cruised disney before we wouldn't have known any different. Just wasn't up to disney standards! Won't do it again. The price was REAL nice,thou..that is for sure!

Key west: we are parasailing through fury at 1:00 & then may do the on/off trolly

Key West is a toss up for us! If weather is nice we might just stay on the boat and enjoy the pool with the kids since it is always way less crowded than sea days!:thumbsup2

We will be eating lunch on the ship, heading to parasailing and then heading back to the ship. Unless I find something amazing to do then I think we will be good parasailing.

Are the kids going to watch you all parasail? Then, I don't know if mine would even watch.:lmao: They may think it is cool or may think it is too scary.:rotfl:

Since you have been to Key West many times. Could you tell me if the electric cars are really any better then using the trolly? If not then I think I will cancel our cars and just take the trolly.:)

I think that is true-if you have not cruised on DCL you may think the service was fine.
We did hate the salt water pools, but on the Enchantment the one pool was fresh water.Disney's pools are just way too small.

In Key West, we are meeting up with DBiL and his wife. We are thinking about doing the trolley. I want to go to the Southern Most Point and a little other looking around.

We actually leave tomorrow on a Carnival Cruise ship for a seven day. It is just Ben and I. Rob still has school so he will be staying with grandparents.

We have done two other Carnival Cruises on one their older ships. Both were before we did DCL. It is definetely not as nice as DCL. Rob was on one of them with us. It was Thanksgiving week and there was lots of families with kids. He enjoyed the kids club. It is not near as good as DCL. This time it is on of there newer ships.

I think one thing we always reminds ourselves when we do things that are not associated with Disney that it is not Disney. Such as when we have gone and stayed at Universal Studios in Orlando. We enjoy it for what it is and try not to expect it to be equal to Disney.

Both of our daughters are going to do it. They can't wait. My dd 3 asks all the time when she can fly in the happy face balloon. LOL
