Brooklyn, is the swan rate for 6 people? or are you getting 2 rooms?

We stayed there before it was renovated-but had an amazing price. It was nice, but not Disney. We are staying at AKL using DVC points.

It would cost us $130 a night and I just don't think it is worth it. I would rather stay at a Disney resort or rent a house out in town. I am glad to know I am not missing anything! :thumbsup2

The rooms only sleep 4 but I think you can get a roll away. There is only 4 of us so we are only getting one room. Grandma does not fly in till the morning of the cruise.

Today just keeps getting better for me... I have AAA & they offer a discount for POFQ!!! Jayde liked it so I guess we will be staying there.:dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay::cool1:

Btw Jayde's name is pronounced Jade; lots of people like to sound it out to Jay-Dee. I had to be unique ~ any need to get everything personalized.
YEAH! You will be staying at the same place as us! We will have to go shopping in DTD for sure now. Our flight arrives at 12:55 pm.

How much was your discount? My parents (same last name) have AAA wonder if I can use it to get there discount?

No it is for anyone on DCL. They are pre and post that can be added for anyone. Swan and Dolphin were offering military but they started at $129 and we could only find dates at $149 and $169 a plus taxes and resort fee. :thumbsup2

No, it would cost us too much and not enough benifits. Have you ever stayed there. People seem to like it. It reminds me too much of a regular hotel you would find anywhere. I don't know though, it might be really nice and I might be missing out! lol

We love staying at Shades of Green and have stayed there at least 7 or 8 times. :love:We pay the highest rate, currently $125 and there's no tax (my husband retired as an 0-5). They have the biggest rooms on property and they sleep 5. And we love the convenience to MK. Its a 5 min walk over to the Poly and you can catch the monorail from there. They even have the shady shuttle (little golf cart) to take you to the end of the golf course, so you don't even have to do that walk! When our kids were little and in the double stroller, we loved getting them packed up in the room, and never having to fold up the stroller! Strolled over to the poly and on to the monorail! And their breakfast buffet is $4.95 for kids and $8.95 for adults. You can have a huge breakfast, then you are good with a light lunch or early dinner in the parks. We always rent a car when we stay there so we can drive to the other parks. Military can get up to 3 rooms there, and when they are booked, you can get discounted rates at any of the other Disney resorts. We've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for $135 a few years ago and our last visit, we got AKL for $225 a night over Thanksgiving 2008 by going thru Shades of Green. We always buy our discounted park tickets there too. This year, with the 40% discount for hotels for military, we are staying at the Wilderness cabins in Sept but now that they added the free dining plan, we are going to price it out to see if that might be more cost effective to pay the rack rate and get the free dining (we do all lunches and dinners in the parks or at resort restaurants). :goodvibes

Hello all!! :wave2: Sorry to change the subject..but....I have some questions!
I am getting my act together and I just figured out what a "fish extender" is... (great pictures on another thread!) and I think I would like to do this for my kids but I just wonder what kind of little gifts do you buy? Is it every day? Would I just be buying for 2 other kids? Forgive my ignorance but this is my first DC!!!! Thanks in advance for any and all info!!!:goodvibes

If yoy are using dcl tranfers getting to the hotel to and from the airport is inlcuded in the same 69 it costs to go from the hotel to the port.

I hope that helps

Sorry to be a pain, but would you happen to know how much it would cost to get to the hotel from the airport? Trying to figure out which why is cheaper! :)

Oh really? Wow, may have to consider that then. Thanks for you help! :)

Boy you guys are chatty! LOL. With all the twins and triplets on this cruise, there are certainly going to be alot of double takes.

For all you single moms, I am a single mom too. My DH passed away last year and it is really tough. I have great kids but both have their problems unfortunately.

I have early dining and traveling with my kids and a friend of the family. If anyone wants to hook up and reserve the same table, just let me know. We can probably get the tA to take care of that.

Pray please that Sat night at 12am that AT&T does NOT strike. If they do, DH flies out Sunday back to Oklahoma City to work indefinitely until the strike ends. He'd miss this trip, Easter, and it would be a major pain. My in-laws will come to help out (thank goodness they can), so I can work.

Have a great day!

My brother is an installer for AT&T... hope it doesn't come to a strike.

How old are your kids? We are on early dinner too

I think everyone is planning on just doing it "once" during the cruise. It is pretty flexible. You could do one item per cabin, something per person, or each child. It can be homemade or anything. I have read people talking about doing things like candy, stickers, or other trinkets. Some people have given homemade fabric frames or highlighters. There are several threads. (do a search on FE gifts or homemade FE gifts)

Remember, do what you are comfortable with and it is about having fun.

Hope this helps. :)

What she said!! LOL Also, to anyone that has done an FE exchange before- were you assigned a day or night to give out your gifts- or did you just give them out whenever?:goodvibes

1st Cruise we just picked whatever day we wanted. Granted it was 14 nights and we had over 100 cabins!!!!!!!

Last cruise we had about 20 cabins and people picked the day they wanted.

Personally I would rather not be assigned a day but will be happy with way. I just think it is easier to have the flexability of doing it when you want or have time. This is coming from someone who is NOT flexable at all. I love to plan every detail!

I have done it both ways so either way works for me.

I'm not gonna assign a day to do it, I think I'll just let people pass them out when they want. I hope that there will be gifts every night though- that would be nice for us to get something each night:banana::banana::banana:. I think we're gonna wind up with about 25 cabins, I do need to know from people with 2 cabins or more if they are doing FE's for both. I will be doing something for each cabin (if particpating) so I'll need a count. Thanks!!
