After hearing the news that POFQ was reopening 5/31, my DD and I decided to spend the night of 5/31 at POFQ on our way home from a Miami-based cruise. To give you a little background, my DD and I (plus DH and DS) go to Disney an average of 4 times a year and are annual passholders. My last visit was to Coronado Springs in April - a truly magical visit.

Our stay at POFQ was not as magical - I will hit some highlights. Check-in was OK. Debbie, our check-in CM was transferred from Ft. Wilderness and was unfamiliar with some of her duties. For example, she told me that we had Express Checkout, but this morning we found out that we did not.

The airconditioning was not working well in the main building. We heard several other complaints that some guest rooms were having air conditioning problems.

The outside of POFQ has been newly painted - so pretty! The grounds are as beautiful as always! Saw bunnies and ducks! Our room was very clean and smelled good. It was obvious that no work had been done inside the room (1111) - scuff marks on walls, spots on carpet, scratched furniture.

Since we had just come off a cruise, we went to the laundry room to wash a few items. Put the money in the washer and no water! Waited 30 minutes for maintenance and another 15 for them to determine how to turn on the water. Once they found the right valve, the washer worked like a charm!

I had not been in the food court previously. It was clean and the food offered was very good. Some of the staff seemed unfamiliar with their duties (for example, the bakery person said she had a certain item; it turned out that she did not). There are no line queues set up which will be needed as the resort fills.

The ATM machine was down.

The arcade is huge!! There is obviously new carpet and all of the machines appeared to be working.

The boat is running to Downtown Disney. There is a separate boat for POFQ and a separate boat for POR.

The buses are stopping at POFQ first and then continuing on to POR.

I found it strange that many of the guests were being placed in Building #1 (one of the farthest buildings). During our many walks through the resort, we saw rooms that were not set up for guests. Several rooms that had open blinds showed that the mattresses and bed rails were simply stacked in the rooms.

The ice machine on the first floor was broken.

I feel very comfortable that many of the issues will be corrected with further training and experience (a least future guests will be able to use the washers :D ).

I was VERY surprised that Disney was not prepared for this resort reopening. Things such as broken ice machines, no water in the laundry room, non-working ATM should have been handled prior to the resort opening. I also found it strange about the rooms that were not ready to receive guests. I guess I just feel that since Disney announced the reopening of POFQ a couple of months ago, that they would be more ready. It would have been a great time to apply a coat of paint to some of the rooms. I will be very interested to read future reviews as the resort gets back up to speed.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFO,I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT DISNEY WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PREPARED. HOPE THINGS IMPROVE I'M BOOKED FOR FIRST WEEK IN SEPT;)

Thanks, Jaguar! I found your post! I do hope Disney gets their act together on POFQ. DH & I will be there in November. Hopefully, the kinks will all be out by then. FQ is now the only moderate we have not experienced. I hope it will be a good trip. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I don't have a month  I only have 11 Days 0 Hrs 10 Mins 21 Secs!

How clever of Disney to have MOVING rooms on the inside! ;) Awesome!
It was said to us on two different occasions last week by POR CM's that anything not moving in FQ was painted!:jester:

Epcot Bill, when we were at POFQ last June, they'd redone the bar area, so that there are now restrooms where Bonfamile's once was. No way for it to reopen. Very sad-we loved it too.

Thanks Simba's Mom. It was a tradition for us to eat breakfast there on the last day of our vacation. We really haven't found anyplace to replace it with yet. Very sad, indeed.

Epcot Bill, Bonfamilie's is not reopened. There is a partition in front of the door. In addition, there are no signs for it anywhere and the resort map given to you at check-in does not mention it. There is boat transportation, bus transportation and a special van to take guests to Boatwrights for dinner.

Thanks jaguar9748..I was waiting for your post. I'm disappointed to hear that they did little to the inside of the rooms. Some of the carpet was in need of repair and replacement. I, too, would have thought that many of the kinks would have been worked out. Typically a hotel has a "soft" re-opening to make sure things are up and running. Guess Disney didn't bother.

We will be there in November and am hoping that things are worked out.

I am still curious as to how the food court differs from before, but, from you post it sounds as if you weren't sure how it was before. Is it still one counter where you order everything? Or did they separate it into different "stations" similar to PORiverside? Just curious.

Thanks for the update. I sure hope they get their act together.

DC - the food court is almost a copy of Riverside's. There is a bakery/ice cream section, a grill section, and Italian food section and an additional section where they make sandwiches, salads, etc. There is a center island where various types of drinks are offered (beer, wine, cans of soda, bottled water, fruit drinks). There were about 8 cashier stations. The drink station for the"mug" drinks was very clean. The food court overall was very clean - I was most impressed.

One note about bus service - it was extremely timely the night we were there. I have read several POR reviews recently and am most concerned about bus service reports. This was a problem a couple of years ago at Riverside and I'm sad to see the problem return.

Is it true you can get something called "binets"sp? It's a New Orleans pastry like a doughnut with powdered sugar on them. Anyone hear of them???

Gabylin- Yes you can get those at the POFQ food court. They are fried bread dough that they then dip in powdered sugar. They are good. But, we liked them best when we asked for them without the powder sugar and then got the powder sugar on the side...we could then dip them in the pwdr sugar and control how much went on them. They are good, though.

Jaguar9748 - thanks for the info that is quite different than how it was before. I'm glad to see that they copied Riverside.

I saw the posts about the bus transportation too. There is a thread going on the Transportation board. I went ahead and emailed wdw and told them what others were saying...and then voiced my concern over what I was hearing since we will be there in November. I also encouraged others to email wdw, even if they weren't going but planning on it in the future. If Disney gets enough replies about what is being said, perhaps they will take measures to correct it. That seems to be the best way to get their attention. I also emailed them regarding the condition of the rooms at POFQ from what you said about your room and also what others have said about Riverside...I will be curious to hear their response. Will post when they do respond. Thanks again for the update.

Thanks for the info dcedwards we are going in July and I'm looking forward to those little fried treats. I'm sure POFQ will get there act together ( I hope):)
