New chain of command in Disney Operations Announced:
1.President - Walt Disney World Resort
2.Mears bus driver.
3.Vice President - Walt Disney World Resort.
4.President - Walt Disney Imagineering
And so on and so forth.
Logically speaking...anyone remember exactly how long it took to complete EE, from dirt to opening?? More than 2 yrs if I remember correctly. No way are they going to open a new park in two years. Perhaps they are going to break ground for a new park in '09...a more 'extreme' park would be a terrific idea for the teens/thrill seekers.
Monorail through to Disney Studios?? Way too expensive to do that..don't think you'll see that happen anytime soon, if ever.
Too bad there isn't a bullet train straight from the airport to all 4 parks. Resort check in is handled directly on the train and luggage valets deliver your luggage to your room. Can you imagine walking into MK 30 minutes after touching down. That's a lot of pixie dust.![]()

It could have happened that way almost when WDW was being built, they planned an airport on property with direct monorail access to the City of EPCOT and MK
Wasn't there a 5th park in the works before 9/11? I had heard it was pretty far in the planning stages, and put on hold because of 9/11.![]()
Disney could not even begin to staff a 5th gate. Why do you think half of Pop Century is sitting in dirt? They can't staff it. That's the same reason they are starting to outsource some of the higher-tier resorts (a la Four Seasons incoming) and why the Western Beltway is getting developed. They simply are not able to staff things right now nor in the forseeable future.
There is a landing strip on WDW property and that was for Walt's plane. I don't think there were plans to use it as a commercial landing strip/airport.
BTW, I didn't know EPCOT was a city.![]()
On a related subject, ever notice that block of rooms at Dolphin with all dark windows? On our Illuminations Cruise in March 1999 the cruise captain told us, with a straight face, that the monorail was going to be extended from MCO to WDW and it would pass right through that area in Dolphin with a stop in the building. Any word on when that's gonna happen?

Since Disney is unable to fully staff their parks/resorts in Florida, why will Four Seasons be able to do any better? Don't both companies have to employ people from the same labor pool?
agnes!
Yeah, I heard that from a bag-checker at the airport who looked like he was in-the-know.
