Another vote for Aeropostale. DD11 also likes LTD2 but tends to drift towards the "junk" there. At Aeropostale, I know she will get clothes and accessories that she will wear!

I voted Justice but my 10y old 5th grader likes Old Navy a lot too. She wears a 12 typically and I really didn't think she would fit into things at Hollister or Aeropostal. I always thought they were more for teens and in junior sizes. What size do they start at?

DD11 wears 12 1/2 at LTD2; 5/6 at Aeropostale. I think the sizes start at 0 (juniors). The jeans at Aeropostale fit her better than any other jeans!

I agree with some PPs: Aeropostale for clothes; Claires for accessories. Aeropostale has great sales (just bought a $3 t-shirt there on clearance, and hoodies are on sale for $15). My DD is now "growing out" of Aeropostale and wants Hollister, Abercrombie and American Eagle, but sales and discounts are few and far between there and Aeropostale generally has the same styles without the higher prices. Claire's is "disposable" stuff, but tweens and younger teens love it.

Oh my I am so out of it and so embarrassed right now. I bought my DN18 a gift card for Aeropostale for her birthday last month. I think I thought it was Abercrombie.:scared1: Do you mean she can't use it? What a dufus I am:dance3:

The size XXS in shirts is like a girl's size 12-14 at Hollister and Aeropostal (pronounced air-o-po-stel (means "airmail" in French???). In pants/shorts the size 00 is like a size 14. Aeropostal has size short sizes also noted with the letter "S" after the size or longer lengths ("L").

DD wears the XXS regulars now, so I bought smalls for next next spring. The shirts are form-fitting, but if you buy a tad big and layer them, they are not revealing and look really cute. The jeans at Aero are great! Right now they are on sale for $19.99. If you get on the email list you get $10 off $50 purchase coupons every few weeks or additional 30% off clearance prices.

runwad, I think somehow she'll manage to spend it... she can always resort to socks and underwear if she's too cool for the Aero label plastered across her chest ...;)

I'm a 13 year old and will just give my 2 cents

I live in Washington and we dont have Justice up here on the West Coast

when i was in 5th I loved Limeted Too and Nordstroms (which is very spendy)
6th grade i did most of my shopping at Nordstroms
7th grade i did most at Aeropostale and Nordstrom
8th grade so far i have shopped at Hollister, Aeropostale, Forever 21, and of course Nordstroms

I love Hollister and Forever 21 and Nordstrom my parents dont believe in Abrecrombrie thanks to my youth pastor but for a 5th grader i would reccomend Limited Too and for a 6th grade i would reccomend Aeropostale and Claires I get almost all my earings there and hair things

I wouldn't go with Limited Too, there's a good chance she's already "over" it.

It seems most of the girls in Hollister are of middle school age or early high school. The clothes are bright and plastered with logos, which I think the younger teens gravitate towards. The one near me always has a TON of stuff on sale, in the $10-$20 range, so it's relatively affordable. The only problem is they never keep it clean or fold the clothes. The clothes are literally just heaped all over the place, it looks like someone's laundry room. I can't stand it, anyone else have this problem?

Abercrombie is too old for this age range. It might be hard to find the right size. Also I dont' think girls this age particularly like the clothes. The colors are very muted and the cuts very basic. I believe this store appeals more to the later high school years in terms of style, although I'm sure some kids just want the brand name. It's also horribly overpriced considering the quality is not good.

American Eagle clothing is of good quality and a lot can be found on sale for great prices. They also have underwear, bras, and shoes. They put out coupons pretty regularly. It also caters to larger sizes much better than Abercrombie and Hollister (the clothing in those stores run small I think). But it might be a bit mature for your age range.

I'd go with Aeropostale. They always have the best sales. The clothes are obviously not for "little girls" but they still have the look that the tweens will like. Also, parents may appreciate it because there is very little revealing clothing. It's a bit young looking for older teens, but they have great basics like tees, polos, and jeans.

I know that's a little more than you asked for. But maybe other parents can use it while shopping for the holidays.

My DD is in 4th grade and we shop the sales at Limited Too. She is a little young still. Have you thought about a VISA gift card?

Huh?? What am I missing?

Oh, this was like the Harry Potter ban -- I remember it several years ago. It was about Abercrombie's "plunge into filth" by marketing clothing "using sexually suggestive photographs and an obvious promotion of gratuitous sexual behavior and promiscuity." Churches were encouraging parents not to shop there. I thought that all blew over, but maybe not??

Yep -- In our neck of the woods it's American Eagle all the way!

We shop at Aeropostale for DD10 (outlets when possible, or on sale - I just got her a hoodie for $14.99). We get her jeans at TJ Maxx (brand names for $14.99, $16.99 etc.). I bought her 5 pairs this Fall for school - none were over $16.99. She's 5'5" tall and has to wear Jrs. sizes this year. She's a size 5 Jrs. jeans in order to get the leg the correct length. She likes LTD2 but I think they're ridiculously priced and I don't think she'd fit into their clothes now. We also shop Target (mostly for staples - underwear, belts, socks, pjs), Kohl's, rarely Wal-Mart (maybe for underwear or such). I don't find Wal-Mart clothes really stand up well, although we've had good luck this Fall with logo t-shirts from the Jrs. dept. We'll get some items at JC Penney once in a while - we're finding less and less there as she gets older. Same with Sears. She's not a "girly girl" so pink is out of the question, as is anything floral etc. It's tough to find a good price, good fit, and items that are acceptable to her and us.

Does Hollister have sizes that small? The one closest to me won't fit my DD because the smallest size wasn't children's sizing.

If the giftee is small, I know Abercrombie and Limited2 have youth sizes. It took a bit of growing for my DD to be able to fit in American Eagle items, which she loves. But she has to order online. The stores don't stock smaller than a 0 and she neeeds 00. Same with Aeropostale. None of the pants will fit.

My daughter and her friends only shop at limited 2.If they get anything else they won't wear it.One day I'll just sew the L2 tag in the walmart clothes.Oh I have to learn how to sew:rotfl2:

Okay, my dd10, a fifth grader, would LOVE to be able to shop at places like Aeropostale, but she's tiny! We're fortunate that Old Navy and the Gap sell kid-sized slim pants with adjustable waists, or we'd have a devil of a time with jeans! When did your girls start being able to wear clothes from the stores aimed at the teen set? :confused3

My 11 year old dd loves Limited Too and Old Navy. I know it is not on the list but I would vote for Old Navy, the prices are much more reasonable.

at the school where i work the "cool" clothes are from Hollister, Abercrombie, Juicy, Old Navy, and Paul Frank wear. Limited Too is for "babies".

The shirts at Hollister can be very small, they are definitely much smaller than American Eagle. The pants probably aren't the right size for very small girls, but I would think the shirts would fit (and sweatshirts, sweaters, etc.). They probably wouldn't fit skin-tight like they were made to, but I don't think most parents would want that for their 5th graders anyway.
