My daughter is trying to make heads or tails out of this situatiion.

after the infamous "lunch seat" incident, my dd decided to stay away from Molly.

yesterday on the playground Molly had some sort of argument with two other girls. the other girls realized they'd crossed a line, and tried to apologize, but Molly would not accept their apology. then both sides wnet around the playground airing their grievances and asking the other kids to choose sides.

the two girls are friends with my dd, and asked her whose side she was on. rather than remaining neutral, she said "you're my firneds and Molly isn't." she's probably going to get blamed for what happened next.

then they asked a boy named Mark which side he was on. "i'm on whatever side [Briar Rose's dd] is on." then Jon said "I'm on whatever side Mark is on" and Tiffany said "I'm on whatever side Jon is on" and so on, until the entire class was on one side, and poor Molly was by herself. I don't like Molly -- I think she's a pushy little witch -- but that's just not right.

it's 5th grade, so hopefully by this morning it will have all blown over. the whole thing reads like an episode of Survivor.

If there is this much drama in DD's life when she is in 5th grade, I'm sending her to a boarding school in Switzerland!

it gets worse in middle school. my 7th grader doesn't tell me the daily scoop, only the hgilights, but ...

Sounds like a child's soap opera, As The Playground Turns, Days of Our Playgrounds, The Guiding Playground.

What will these kids do when school is out?

play the same game at camp, I guess. most of them are going to sleep away camp, or to travel camp, or to local day camp programs.

Fifth grade girls are fun. My older dd had the same problems when she was in the public elementary and she hated her fifth grade year. Now, her friends are in love with one on the boys in last Harry Potter movie and somebody else.

I work at an elementary school and my daughter is in the 5th grade too. I do not work directly with 5th grade in the classrooms. I have them for about 20 minutes for recess. I think 5th grade (at least this year) is awful!!! Some of the girls are drama queens, some hormones are in OVERDRIVE, the boys think it is really cool to be the wiseguy, and on the whole they are very disrespectful towards adults. What a change in blood pressure I have before recess and after. I am on my lunch break now and when I return to school in about 10 minutes i will go directly to the caf. and recess........uuuuhhhhgg!!

Boys can be cruel, too. My son's "best friend" told him one day towards the end of school that he (DS) doesn't have any friends and never will because he is "wierd"

All seems to be forgiven, but biy kids can be cruel.
