5th grade graduation song

Here is a great one by Green Day that my DDs school used in fifth grade. The words are perfect.
Linda

Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question
But a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs
And still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf of good health
And good time
Tattoos of memories
And dead skin on trial
For what it's worth
It was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

Another good song I haven't seen mentioned is "You'll Be in My Heart" by Phil Collins, from Tarzan.

I had that song and "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day playing in the background of a picture slideshow at my high school graduation party.

That's another one. And Being that it's Green Day, even if it's old they may like it.
That and Graduation (Vitamin C) are must for all graduations. :goodvibes

This is what they always sing at my kids' elementary school for 5th grade grad. It really sounds and looks nice because they all sing and sign the lyrics.

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

Chorus:
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Chorus

And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Yes too babyish.

My daughters school did not have a 5th grade party. However the 5th graders did sing an old Greenday song the "Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road..."

I want to say it is very old Greenday-- maybe from 1994 1995

I wouldn't call it babyish exactly, but it is very repetitive. It might be neat if you added sign language.

Every year, our chorus sings "Go with a song in your heart" ar our 5th grade breakfast... and every year, the teachers are a mess! :)

I'll try to find a link with lyrics, but to me it is one of the most appropriate songs for leaving elementary school.

Okay, odd to see this thread pop up again - it was written by me THREE years ago!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Not sure how it got dredged back up again, but i believe this issue is off the table.

By the way - the kids sang "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly and did a terrific job!

And now those 5th graders from 3 years ago are going to be high schoolers! Amazing how time flies, huh?

Wow, I should re-learn to check thread dates!

I was going, "Wow, Green Day. They went out of style around here YEARS ago..."

I just wanted to tell you that my daughter sang this at her 5th grade moving up ceremony and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. To me it seems the perfect song for this age ... and the kids loved it too!

New Soul by Yael Naim would be AMAZING! The lyrics are not complicated, and the song is great.

ETA: Oh, wait three years ago haha. Oh well, New Soul would've been great if it had come out yet... I hope people read this! That would seriously be great for any graduation.
