5th birthday at DLR

My DD4 will turn 5 in March and I would like to celebrate her birthday at DLR. I'm thinking instead of staying offsite like we usually do, since we are saving money on not buying tickets (we are AP holders now) we can stay on site. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a big birthday like this special? I know about the birthday buckets and stuff, I'm just curious as to what other parents have done for a birthday in the park. Any ideas would be helpful, TIA!!

How lucky to celebrate a B~day in DLR! My DD will never spend her B~day in DL ~ her big day is 7/3!! I'll have to take her on an un~B-day trip. If DD was spending her B~day in DLR, we'd either have a meal at Ariel's or breakfast with Minnie & Friends, visit Build a Bear & ride ride ride! Our trip this past April started on DS's B~day. We had breakfast at Minnie's, visited BAB and rode rode rode! He got tons of B~day wishes ~ it was great!

I am also taking DS (who will have just turned 6 to DL for his birthday treat) We are going to do a Goofy Kitchen breakfast, and then the day is just his to choose, there seems to be so much to do without needing to do anything extra special as well - if you know what I mean. I am going to try and get the bucket as well for dinner that night, and when I make PS's I have been told to tell them its for a birthday as sometimes they bring little extra treats out. Oh - and the birthday pin from City Hall was another tip someone gave me. I'm sure you know all about that already though....sorry

I'm not sure what to suggest, having never been, but hope you all have a fab time, and hope your daughter has a wonderful time whatever you do.

There is a Disneyland Cake thread here somewhere. You can call Vacation Planning and order a birthday cake and have it delivered to your room!

Goofy's kitchen is good, you may also want to try the storyteller cafe at the Grand hotel great chacaters and good food in the am. I would not however recommend the Birthday spot at DL cost does not match what you recieve $10.00 per person for a texas size cupcake and a chance to sing happy birthday with PatE.Cake, Took Great Aunt who was turning 97 their and if was a flop for us.

In the next few weeks or months DLR is supposed to be rolling out all sorts of new treats and such that you can pay for to celebrate birthdays at DL. These include personalized cakes in the parks (previously only available at the resort hotel restaurants and via room service), a BBQ at Big Thunder Ranch, etc. They are also bringing out a new parade this spring (hopefully in time for your DD's b-day) that is celebration themed.

Also, as part of the What will you Celebrate promotion, your DD gets free admission if you go on her actual birthday. But, since you are APs and she doesn't need a ticket, she will be eligible for a birthday fun gift card worth $59 (price of a child's one day ticket), or you can choose a family fastpass (good for up to 4 people for 4 rides from what I have heard), or a 1 day ticket to be used anytime in the next year. You can register her now (and yourself for that matter) at disneyland.com and then you must bring proof of her birthday (state issued ID card or birth certificate) when you visit.

Personally, as a fellow AP, I am all about the gift card, as I can always spend money at Disneyland!

We did the Pat E Cake thing and it was fun for 10 bucks but I certainly wouldn't do it now that the cost went up although you do get one on one time with Mickey and Minnie so that might be worth the price for the little one but that is up to you. But we are taking my 7 year old in April for her 8th birthday and are going to do Goofy's Kitchen. They have GREAT characters there and I am going to do the cake from vacation planning. I ordered one for my 16 year old last February and it was beautiful! I also may try to do the bibbidi bobbidi boutique. I am going to look into it more.

Of course there is always Ariels over at DCA if she loves the princesses. That is a GREAT place as well. Of course just BEING at Disneyland is great fun and make sure and get her a birthday button cuz you never know what kind of little surprises you might get!
