5K Medal?

My family wants to walk the 5k. My girls are pretty much doing it for the medal. Do they still give those out?

As far as I know they still hand them out on completion. They are large plastic medallions on a neck ribbon.

I believe the minimum age to do the 5K is 10 years old.

The date is no longer on the actual medal. instead it shows up on the lanyard.

The medal is now flat too. The words aren't protruding off it. And the ribbon is now a orange/yellow color.

It'll be just a few more weeks until I can get the new one, so I guess I'll see for myself! Better than the generic winner medals.

Yes, much better! We have a bunch of those from trivia so it was sort of underwhelming to get the same thing for a 5K.

Smart of them. Good to see the change. It was silly if them to have the year on the medal in the first place. But since the new medals started with the first Castaway Cay Challenge in 2015, and the people that organized that weren't that good at it (I participated and had the feeling that the real RunDisney people were all on vacation and we had temps running things), it makes sense that someone thought it would be a good idea.
