We are going to a 59th anniversary open house in 2 weeks.

Right now the one spouse is in a rehab center due to a stroke. The party is being held there.

Normally I would have probably gotten them a restaurant gift cert. But this spouse was the one who did all the driving for the family, so getting to a place is a real issue.

Now I am stumped at what to get. I am thinking maybe a box of candy and some money because I am sure they have lots of medical bills etc. Or maybe a picture frame?

Anyone have any ideas?

These people must be pretty elderly and with the illness and mobility issues, going out to eat is probably not on their radar screen anymore. I like your idea of a box of chocolates and if cash would seem too forward, maybe a gift card to somewhere you know they shop regularly since they are already getting there somehow. Have fun at the party - 59 years is worth celebrating!

Are they family , maybe you can offer your time. Help the one that doesn't drive to places or to see the one in rehab. Seniors just love the company and someone to listen to them. They really don't need material things I bet they would say. Flowers and chocolates would be nice though and an offer to help out.

I like the idea of flowers and chocolate or if you have the budget maybe one of those cakes made out of money?

They arent family. I cant help offer to drive them anywhere because I dont have a car myself and I really cant help them because of all the cancer surgery and other surgeries I have had and they know that, so I want to give them something useful and thoughtful.

Please keep the ideas coming.
