Both mattresses are the same size, the only difference would be the top bunk is open at both ends so it might be better for the 6’3” person. The couch had the arms so it’s more enclosed.Has anyone had experience with tall travelers? One person is 5'9" the other is 6'3" I'm not sure who gets the top bunk and who gets the couch? Can you please tell me your experience?
6'3" weights about 140 and about the slimmest of the bunch. Everyone else is 130-155???? Anyway my daughter who was 5'7 at the time popped down the metal head board for extra length but now she's 5'9. We have never traveled with 6'3" before, I'm a little nervous for him. (He just turned 18.....he could still grow!!!)There's a weight limit for the top bunk. I don't remember the number, but that might be the deciding factor
Can you report back, please? DD13 is 5'11" now (pretty sure this is it for her) and has gotten priority to choose so far - she preferred the sofabed. She sleeps fine in a twin at home, no complaints, so I think it was more about the complications of getting INTO the bed. DS9 has a growth spurt, like, monthly and is 5'7" now and getting an advanced 10th birthday present of a twin XL bed b/c he doesn't like his feet to brush the edge at all. My money is on that one being taller than his sister by the time we cruise next in 2020. I'm already regretting only booking 1 placeholder. But I'm thinking the 5 person rooms with the extra bed will be our best bet by then.6'3" weights about 140 and about the slimmest of the bunch. Everyone else is 130-155???? LOL just had an image in my head of him with his feet out the window. A little Goofy cartoon like with wiggling toes.
My6'2" son likes the murphy bed, while my younger (5'9" ot 10"?) liked the bunk. How does your tall one like to sleep? If he curls up, the bunk might be just fine. If he stretches out, maybe not. You need to ask them both what they'd like.
I'll be happy to tag you back. But here's what happened when I went with my parents (75), myself 5'9" (age 55) and daughter 5'8" (age 17). I took the couch so my parents would be able to sleep together and my daughter was in the top bunk. I slept on the couch and noticed I tried to sleep corner to corner but was comfortable. My daughter was complaining about the room so we took down the head rail so she had a few extra inches. But one of the posters said the beds are the same length so now I'm confused. Can you report back, please? FWIW I'm 5'10" and cruised in the smallest of insides on various cruiselines 20 years ago with my sister and parents, always on the top bunk, and survived, as did my taller male cousins on our extended family trips. The only difference now is the kids have options, so of course they're going to fight over the 'good' one!
I'm pretty sure these two knuckle heads would not say a word if I said they could sleep together! I've invited my Daughters Boyfriend and his Mother. I guess I could give up the bed AGAIN. It would be the 5th I've paid for and had to sleep on the couch 3 times. How about taking turns -- each one gets the bunk half of the cruise. Check with the stateroom host about which day he/she changes the sheets.
Well it's my daughter and her boyfriend and his mother. I'm not thinking age is going to be the pecking order on this trip. But sure would have been easier on me with that plan. What I will do whoever is youngest get the top bunk, oldest gets the couch.
The sofa bed, the bunk bed, and the Murphy bed all have twin mattresses. The difference is on the sofa bed, there are the arms of the sofa making it seem "shorter". But they are actually all the same size. Makes the bedding situation much simpler for DCL if they are the same size.My daughter was complaining about the room so we took down the head rail so she had a few extra inches. I want to sleep in the bed but looks like DD gets the top, I get the bottom. DBf(Darling Boyfriend) gets the incredibly comfortable bed with is mother. Now all I need is for them to tell me they want to go(just gave them the option to join us now that my parents are short on money because contract negotiations lost my dads "company paid insurance" at 75. Such a kick in the teeth for him. He's looking for work to cover the new insurance deductibles and expenses. Too proud to let me pay his way. Every time I think of this, I remember not seeing my dad as a child because he worked overtime and going without a pay raise for years and trying to use powdered milk and salmon in a can, and all that food that looked like it came from the army that tasted so awful to feed us. Once my brother said he would take a spanking from my dad because he couldn't eat anymore Salmon Patties(Saltines, Salmon, onion, Cream of Mushroom soup fried) how awful he must have felt knowing he son offered to get spanked instead of eat the only food he could afford. He didn't spank my brother and we never had to eat that again. It's like it's happening to him all over but he doesn't have as much fight left. He worked 3 jobs back then not sure he could one part time. Sorry I've rambled on but it helped to get that off my chest. It's really dusty in my house all the sudden.

I'm not sure what "head rail" you're referring to, as the upper bunk is open at both ends.
