After working at least 70 hours a week on a very stressful high profile project I was overdue for a vacation. We arrived on Southwest early, nice that they are now a part of ME. The airport lines weren't horrible but I could kick myself for not planning ahead to get the ME tickets. Pre-checked in on-line, requested the only option, which was "close to transportation". Check in was less than fabulous but I lived through the experience, although I was swearing (to myself) that I would be selling this acquisition asap. When we arrived the room was not ready but I didn't expect it to be because is was before noon. We were finally reassigned 5380 because I begged for a room at 4:00. The minute I stepped on the balcony I was ready to just let the TS go into foreclosure. The magical Savannah had a huge bunker at the end, I was so disgusted. Once I got over the disappointment of the "illusion" being ruined, the reality of the daily rituals were really interesting to witness. I would highly recommend this room, you will see a lot of action; the comings and goings of the animals and their care givers. You can even see the fireworks at MK from the balcony.

Pros:
Yes it was almost the last room but the halls were warm:)
Sanaa, we went twice; loved the bread sampler, soup and wine flights
Better animal viewing than when I was there several years ago
Great pool bar, very nice and informative bartenders (much improved)
The best dinner ever at Jiko's (4th visit)
Some really great CM's
Cons:
Did not like the bathroom
No place to walk on site
Remote location
No quiet pool
A couple of far less than fabulous CM's
I'm writing this on a long shot that someone on the DIS boards will be assigned 5380; to let them know that even though the magic may be interrupted for the reality, the reality is even cooler.

I'm checking into a value studio on thursday. Do you have pictures of the room or of the view you had from the room?

I think you had a good time. Not sure. ;) Hope so.

I'll be looking at AKV and a studio next year sometime. Definately interested in any photos you may have and AKV studio tips. :)

I think watching the "reality", coming and goings of the animals and caregivers would be very interesting. I am glad you are enjoying the positives of your remote room. :goodvibes

Is it a quiet room?

I just checked my old files and in 2008 we had studio in Jambo 5355. I was a bit disappointed at first. The room was too dark and danky...the bathroom made for midgets (and we are "medium" sized people) and the view, I thought at first to be ugly....especially since construction was underway at Kidani and became a noisey eyesore. Savanna view became construction guys all day. I also just kept thinking it was all just an African replica of Wilderness Lodge. But we were only there for three days before moving to my beloved BWV and I tried to make the best of it.....and something happened in those three days....the animals were out in full force and I was mezmorized by them! I even had a favorite giraffe! I don't think I'd do Jambo again....although I am being forced into Kidani by DD for our girl's week away....but it turned out to be a nice (but hopefully once) experience overall.

I forgot my camera. Normally I wouldn't care but there were so many great shots. Hope you have a great trip.

It was a very quiet one bedroom.

We stayed in a Value Studio at the very end of February. I don't have any photo's but we were right above Boma on the 5th floor just a few units down from the DVC Laundry Room. This room had a great view of the Uzima Pool and was very close to the main lobby and elevator.

I have a 1 bdrm value booked for November and one of the reasons we chose that option is because of their location close to the lobby/elevator, and with a lil luck who knows might get a savanah or pool view since there are only 2 value 1 bdrms with parking lot view vs 4 savanah and 4 pool view.
