I took my kids to WDW in Dec. for a unplanned short trip. I used only the quarters from the change collection for our fun money and they came to 500.00. It adds up quickly!!

I'm pretty sure I saw her lugging a sack of pennies to the CoinStar a few minutes ago. I was buying some flour to make paste for my lint window treatments. If these fail, I'll just call it dinner.

Not to burst your bubble but did you check with your bank before bringing all that loose change?? I work at a bank and it has to be wrapped or we can't accept it.

My guess is around $980.00!!

I had to tell you... before our WDW trip last year I took a couple of hundred dollars in (various denominations, all rolled) to our Credit Union (they are large... 5 in our city alone and have branched out to neighboring counties) and they refused the rolled coins, it all HAS to be loose and put through (its free) their change counter (available at 2/5 locations). I had worked so hard counting and rolling change... for no reason! It is odd, how places are different!

I am always surprised to hear that a bank wants the change rolled. Seems to me it would be very easy for a dishonest person to short a roll of change a couple of coins.

Mine takes it loose or rolled. Businesses buy the rolled coins, so maybe they just resell immediately what is turned in. I don't know; it might have to be unrolled, sent in bags to the fed, rerolled, returned to the bank then sold to the business. No wonder they charge!

We have a big water bottle too and its about 1/4 full. I just weighed it and its almost 30lbs. We have quite few dollar bills and the rule is NO penny's!

We have 7 months until our cruise, so you have inspired me to really pick up the change tossing!!

You might want to hurry to the bank and start earning interest. A "ton of change" at the same average value per pound as the OP's was of $9.0896729 times 2000 pounds is $18179.34!

had to update this thread for anybody who's still saving change. We cashed in our big sparkletts bottle of change....it weighed in at 46 lbs, but my scale may be over a lb or so.
We had $547.00 in change and $128.00 in bills.
I'm very excited and we will definitely start again for our next trip. It became very easy to toss coins in there.
