This trip is just DH and I, both aged 32. We will be spending our last day at MGM, but have to catch ME around 2:45 at our hotel, the WL. We have eaten before at Brown Derby and Sci Fi and Mama Melrose, so I thought we'd try something new and right now I have an ADR at 50's Primetime for noon that day. I was thinking instead though maybe we should eat at Whispering Canyon instead around 1:00. That way we can relax knowing we are back at our resort with plenty of time to catch ME. Also I am not so sure about being forced to eat my green beans, yuck! Any advice?

Hi Becky,

Another Pittsburgher here!

I would keep my ADR at Prime Time. We dine at both almost every trip (with kids) but I think you will enjoy the atmosphere and decor at the Prime Time. WCC doesn't really do much at lunch, and you can see the whole restaurant from outside it, so it doesn't offer you anything "new". Prime Time (like WCC) depends on the server you get on how much interaction they will have with you. Your server may not make you eat your veggies, but you will enjoy watching the other guests that have servers that make them do it. :) Have a great trip! :wave2:

I would stick with Prime Time, the food is good. Really not a lot of pressure to eat all your food from the servers.

We like WCC for breakfast. Lunch and dinner have never thrilled us much there.

we are trying both of these restaurants for the first time in september. I have heard great things about both of them, especially if you are into crazy antics.

Hey it looks like this is a burgh thread. We are not to far away from Pgh.

Stick with 50's PT. Over the years they have become more conserative. A few years ago they would have made a big deal if you did not eat all your veggie, now they have been scolding you. They even offered my father a choice of something different since he does not like green beans.

WCC is a fun place to eat. However, we don't think the food is as good.

Have a fun trip.

I've never eaten at WCC, but I would stay with Prime Time. My DH and I are planning a few extra hours at MGM just to eat there. :cool1:

Thanks everyone! We have eaten at WCC before so I guess we'll try something new and stick with Prime Time. :)

Looks like you made your decision already, but I too vote for Prime Time over WC. I also agree that the last few visits to Prime Time we have had tamer servers and I think the food is better there.

We dined at 50's on 7/5 and everyone loved it!

DH-caesar salad-fried chicken(3 big pieces)
ME-onion rings-steak(came w/root hash? Didn't care much for it-too spicy)
DS15-onion rings-fried chicken
DS11-ckn noodle soup-fried chicken
DD8-ckn noodle soup-grilled ckn
DSD8-ckn noodle soup-grilled ckn
DD4-ckn noodle soup-grilled ckn

The onion rings were fabulous and the horseradish dipping sauce was just right, not so radishy it burnt but if you didn't know what it was you would eat it all
Fried chicken was 3 huge pieces even DH couldn't finish it all! He was told he may not get dessert if he didn't eat some of his spinach so to keep up with the fun he ate 2 bites
The kids loved the ckn noodle soup but it did fill them up quite a bit
The steak wasn't that great but very eatable the root hash however just :crazy2: and I'm not picky! It was way to spicy!
The refills came before we even needed them and our server was kind enough to steer us towards the milkshakes because he knew we had been picked to be the "magic family" for Fantasmic that night and were running short on time and put the order for them in as we got close to being done that way when we were done we could just bolt

I was so looking forward to eating at WCC but after the CM got our ressies changed to 50's so we could stay at MGM and be the magic family I was glad he did because we had a great time and the food was good and there was plenty of it!

WCC is better for a dinner, and 50s is best for a lunch.

Is WCC better at dinner then at lunch?

Are the 'antics' as good at lunch?

thanks!

We had dinner at both in May. 50s was much better for food. The antics were about equal--but with the better food, we liked 50s much better. In addition to the antics, you can watch Mousketeers on TV while you eat...while teens say things about "when you were a kid." Sorry, Mom isn't quite that old!

Whichever you choose, be sure to tell them at the podium that you want to "play." What we've found is that sometimes two adults dining alone don't get the attention that makes these places fun. If they know up front that you want to interact with your server and get into the theme of the restaurant, you'll have a much nicer time.

After all, it just wouldn't be a trip to 50's Prime Time Cafe without having to stand in the corner for not finishing your vegetables.

LOL this happened when we were there and it was a great motivator for the kids to listen and clean their plate(well try to anyways!)
They thought it was crazy and loved it!

My DH and I had dinner at both in February. We found the antics at WCC just a little over the top for us. I just don't see the fun of having napkins and straws thrown at me. And screaming for ketchup? It just didn't do it for me. I couldn't wait to finish my dinner and leave. The food was OK but definitely not as good as at the 50s Primetime Cafe. That one was just plain fun. Even though we were a couple without any children with us, we did interact with the waiter. He was very good at getting to everyone (we were in one of the smaller rooms -- just 4 tables). Although it was a teenaged girl at another table who had to stand in the corner because she tried to hide her vegetables in her napkin, we were chastised several times for having our elbows on the table. We had some very good laughs and some very good food. I would certainly choose 50's PT over WCC.
