I've heard some mixed reviews about this place. Could you guys give me your honest opinion on the food here? Is it just ok or is it pretty bad?

We're not picky eaters, so take this for what it's worth, but we liked our dinners. I had meatloaf, DH had the pot roast and DS had the kid's mac and cheese. It's definately not gourmet, but it's pretty good. I think most go for the atmosphere and the fun...:)

Food is good, but not great. We always enjoy the experience. SciFi is a good one too on this level.

I went to 50's prime time last last September and it was the best restaurant we went to on the trip. The atmosphere is great, the service was excellent...and entertaining and the food was fabulous. I had the chicken noodle soup appetizer, the pot roast entree and the smore's for dessert and I still remember how great it was. It was one of the first ADR's I made for my trip this coming April. I know that service can vary by chance and by personal preference but I would recommend that everyone at least try 50's prime time once so that they can form their own opinion. Personally, our family loved it!!

Not trying to take over the thread here but I have a question about the "atmosphere". I really don't want anybody just going on and on about eating my veggies, clean your plate, etc. etc. Just how much do the servers bother you?

We enjoyed our meals there and it is usually on our "must eat" list.

We are not bothered by the "atmosphere" but the last time we were there our friends very sensitive 8 year old ds was brought to tears after being chastized by our server.

The food is good. It is comfort food, Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Meatloaf, etc. But bear in mind it is all cooked ala Disney style. Nothing is bland. We like it and it has become a family fav.

We like it! We have been there twice, the last time being last week. Both times we had a good dining experience. The servers were funny and the food good! We ordered the fried chicken, which is terrific!

The food wasn't anything to write home about, but our server was awesome! We had lots of fun there and would go back.

Love the food, love the atmosphere!

Last trip we skipped 50's prime time so we could try Sci Fi dine in. LOVED the atmosphere at Sci Fi  , but the food was terrible. Next trip we are back to 50's Prime Time!

For me, it's a place you should try at least once just for the setting and atmosphere. We went there for our first meal on our first ever trip to Disney in 2004. When we planned our next trip though my husband didn't want to eat there again. As others said, it's comfort food and depending on your server you many get more or less of the "act". DH got meatloaf, I got fried chicken and DD got mac and cheese (I think). We didn't get much of the "act" from our server but that was fine with us. The food was OK but the setting provided cute pictures and a fun experience.

Have eaten there twice, ordered the same thing, fried chicken (white meat only) and smores. Fantasic each time. The first time our server was really into the role thing but the second time we had a dud

My husband said that the pot roast he got at Prime Time was the best he had ever had - we went for lunch, and I just got a sandwich, and it was good.

We are planning on going back for our next trip :goodvibes

Honestly, even having eaten at a lot of the really fancy places at WDW, the food here is some of my favorite. The fried chicken is wonderful, crisp, and tasty, the sides are all well-prepared, the milkshakes are amazing, and the desserts (if you can eat them) are great.

Our server played around with us a little, but it was more joking than anything else. I generally hate situations where people are in character and interacting with you (The Great Movie Ride makes me want to crawl inside myself) but it was a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

I have to agree with PP. We have eaten at every signature and at V&A on several occasions. And we enjoy a dinner at the 50's as much as those places. We've never had an over the top CM that has embarrassed us but it wouldn't bother us if we did. The food is good. It doesn't have to be gourmet to taste good.

The food is pretty good for DHS. We don't care too much for the appetizers but love the desserts! We go for the interaction with the CM's.
