We visit Disney annually and typically always frequent the same restaurants, looking to add to our list.....what are your thoughts on either of these restaurants ~ food, atmosphere, fun (we have a 9 and 5 year old), service and also your preference ~ lunch or dinner

Thanks in advance!!!!

We ate at both of these restaurants in 2008 and have reservations for both during our upcoming 2010 trip.

We had really great food at each of them. I have pictures of what we ate at 50's but I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet. You can likely find lots of pictures and reviews in the 'restaurants' threads on this board.

The atmosphere was great at both places for us. We didn't have any issues with service or the staff at either. We did, however, have a long wait to be seated at 50's. Our server at 50's didn't do much as far as their routine goes but that was fine with us. Some of the CM's there can be quite involved in their routines.

Our DS was almost 7 when we were at Disney then and he really loved eating in the cars at the SiFi. Going back this year was at his request because he wanted to watch the monster movies while he ate supper. I've heard that the onions rings at the SiFi are really good and I think the milkshakes might be refillable.

You'll probably get lots of differing opinions here but I personally don't think you could go wrong with either. :goodvibes

Both places are lots of fun. I personally like Sci-Fi for lunch and 50s for dinner because of the meatloaf, etc. menu. How about asking them? Have them look at pictures of both.

Our family has eaten at both and has ADR's for both this September. Food is great at either of these rastaurants. For me the drive in theming brings back memories of being a kid and piling in to the station wagon and going to the drive in. I even remember some of those old film clips. My kids, now that they are older, really like this place as well. Sitting in a car, eating, and watching moves can be fun for kids.

I love the 50's and always thought it would have been fun to grow up then so the Prime Time gives you that feel of eating during that era. If you get the right server it can be really fun. Not sure at your kids age and personalities what they would like.

Either place is great....we do both everytime we go!! We have sci-fi for lunch and 50;s for dinner when we are there in Sept! 50's is more the home-cooked meals (pot roast, meatloaf, or fried chicken) where sci-fi is more the burger and fry type of place. MMMm and the onion rings are great!! I'm the burger and fry type so I prefer sci-fi....hubby loves his homemade meals so he prefers 50's ....the kids love both! Good luck deciding and have a great vaca!

this may very well be the most asked restaurant question on the boards...............it also may be the best one because you cannot lose. whichever one you choose you will have a good time............an adequate; if not great, meal.............and then you can do the other one the next time.............oh...........dinner............its a great way to end the day.

We always make sure we get in a reservation for Sci-Fi! The atmosphere is amazing, your kids might enjoy eating in the cars too. I've heard some people say it has scared their children? It doesn't seem that bad to me at all, but I guess it depends on personal preference.
50's has great food as well, but overall I would definitely recommend Sci-Fi :thumbsup2

I personally prefer 50's Prime Time if I were to choose between the two. But both are fun and unique. The dessert menu at Prime Time is the best. ;) Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice.....So, I decided to do late lunches at both (I am a very picky eater and the dinner choices were iffy for my tastes....). I can't believe we have never tried either of these restaurants.

I have been to 50's Prime Time Cafe on multiple occasions for both lunch and dinner, so that's what I would recommend.

The ribs are great at SciFi1 My favorite menu item there.

Both places are running more on atmosphere and theming than on the merits of their food. My husband and I ate at both on our last trip. While we thought the theming at 50's Primetime was pretty amazing, the food was anything but. Onion rings were thick and greasy and my husband's meatloaf was brick hard and appeared to be the end of a loaf. Our server was merely adequate, but the table next to ours had one who was seriously into the act, which only made our server seem more lacking.

We loved Sci-Fi, though. My husband was totally into the themeing and our food was better; although all we had was a burger, onion rings, and shakes. But they were delicious! Of the two, Sci-Fi is the only one we are def. planning on returning to.
