Hi! We are planning an April trip and are contemplating eating here. I'm wondering how intense the "teasing" can get. Most of my kids can handle it, but my dd7 and niece are very shy and might not get the joke. Should we skip it or do you think it will be ok?

The Cast members are pretty good about being able to tell who is enjoying the "teasing" and who isn't. If it does happen to get uncomfortable you can alway politly ask them to stop. BTW not all the cast members get into character as much as some. I think you will enjoy it, if you or people in your party dont want to be teased, stay off you cell phone, keep your elbows off the table..and clean your plate.

You should be fine. We avoided for same reason but we love going now.

One trip the "Mom" was telling the Dad and Grandpa at next table they better finish their veggies or they would have to stand in the corner. The little boy about 6 started to get upset when she left because he said he couldn't finish all his chicken nuggets. When "Mom" returned they told her. She said, no worries, they do not tease the young ones in that way. Only the adults. I've seen them ask the younger ones to set the table but nothing else.

DD (she was 17 at the time) is painfully shy & I worried about taking her to 50's but it was fine. The waitress mostly poked a little fun at DH, but she never once picked on DD. I think they can tell who to go for.

We've eaten there a couple of different times and have had good experiences. I was really worried on our first visit because we did have a very animated, loud waiter who was great at teasing. Unfortunately, I was nearing the end of my first trimester of pregnancy and was feeling (and looking) pretty green. He quickly sensed this and continued with his antics with my two daughters and husband but did so without including me. I think your daughter and niece will be fine. I think most of the "razzing" is directed towards the adults.

they definitly know who to pick at and who to leave alone , our waitress Donna (best ever!) razzed my son badly , because he was hooking her , we had a blast , but she was more docile with my daughter who is more shy .
I was very hesitant to go there , and now , I don't think we will ever miss it, it was a lunch in true disney style , great food, great entertainment !

On our last visit it was adult DS, his girlfriend, her mother and father, and DH and I. Our waitress was relentless - teasing my son about when he was going to propose to his girlfriend. This continued the entire meal, but clearly we were all enjoying it. They were a bit embarrasssed, but still having fun.
It was hilarious. (They are married now)
I agree, I think they know who is having fun and who to leave be.
Have Fun

We are a couple (mid to late 50's). How much will they pick on us? We have a good sense of humor but with only being a party of two would the waitstaff still get into character with us as much as they would with a larger party?

We stopped going because my mom saw a waitress make another guest sing "I'm a Little Teapot" in front of the restaurant for not eating her veggies, and the idea of having to sing in public scares her to death. But, I was little when we went (probably 6 or 9) and I thought it was awesome.

Agreeing with some of the previous posters..... we finally went last year (DH is strongly adverse to having to be a participant in restaurants/shows.... LOL!). My then 10 year old DD was looking forward to the teasing/play by the CM, while my 8 year old DD was dreading it.... turns out that our server picked right up on my 8 year old's cues and left her alone...We had a fantastic time and plan on going back! :)
