We'd like to have a ts lunch at DHS, but can't decide between 50's Prime Time and Sci Fi. :confused3 Any suggestions

Usually on every trip I go to Sci Fi but this past trip I decided to switch out and go to 50s Prime Time instead. I don't want to say I was disappointed because it was fun but I prefer the theming at Sci Fi more.
Maybe I feel that way because I'm more used to Sci Fi, but I can't wait to return to Sci Fi next trip.

My vote firmly goes to the Sci FI. We love the atmosphere of Prime Time, but the food is sorely lacking. Lunch at the SciFi is great-great burgers, etc. The atmosphere is fun too! We are thinking of eating there this trip yet again!!

My vote is for the 50's Primetime Cafe. This is a must for me on every trip. Have always had great food & service here.:thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Wish I could say the same for Sci Fi. Tried this for a third time on my last trip and it was some of the worst food I've ever had. The burger was incredibly greasy & the fries were undercooked.

Just returned. Did both. Have done both on several occasions on prior trips too. I'm sorry to report that I have probably made my last visit to Sci Fi for a long long time. As much as I love the atmosphere in there, the food was just inedible. Although 50's is not anything to jump up and down over, at least we could eat it.

And to the OP, you did not state how many were in your party. Just an FYI, if there are only two of you, chances are you are going to be sitting in the 3rd row in the car, behind two other pairs. Lots of couples do not like this but it's generally the case. That means you have strangers heads sitting right above your food.

Thanks for the suggestions! I call for ADRs tomorrow and I can't decide about any of them :confused3

:) We have only eaten at the Sci-Fi...but we really enjoyed it! We had lunch there and after reading reviews here we kept our choices 'simple'. We had the onion rings for an app (yummy) and burgers & shakes for lunch. Everything was very tasty and our kids loved the atmosphere. We have added it to our list of places we will return to list for next Sept. HTH!

We went to both. We got milkshakes at the Sci-Fi midafternoon, mostly so we could experience the restaurant, and it gave us a nice break. After our shakes we were rested and ready to hit more attractions!

Hi :)

We did both on our trip and I enjoyed the Sci Fi more. I just thought it was a really neat atmosphere. We thought the burger was very good as well as the fries. The pot roast at 50's was very good, but it's also very expensive.

Will there be any kids in the party? If so, then I'd definitely go with Sci Fi.

On our last trip (Nov. 2007) we did both. "We" was me and 2 of my girlfriends on our "girls' only weekend".

We had a blast at both. We did Sci-Fi for lunch. The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the waitress was excellent. It was the first time either of us had been to the Sci-Fi and I can't wait to go back with DH.

Later that same day we did Prime Time for dinner. Excellent time & food! We had the best waitress (Mamma Sue). She was hilarious! Gave us "homework" too. :rotfl: But the food was also very good. This was the second time I had been to Prime Time. On my first trip (with DH) we tried Prime Time and were not pleased. We tried it because I had heard good things about it, but we found the food (at that time) "ok" and the waitstaff "ok" (nothing like Mamma Sue).

I think it just depends on the time you go to any restaurant. But it's always a "hit or miss" with any place.

50's Prime Time. It has both great ambience and good food. Sci fi has fantastic ambience but the food is icky, IMO. I would go there for some fries and a milk shake or something, just so you have the experience, if you want. But not a full meal.

We've been to both and like both, but would choose Sci-Fi over 50s -- we just think the food is better at Sci-Fi.

I did the Prime time 2 yrs ago and sci fi just this month. I do not like the "in your face" stuff of the prime time and I found the food salty. Sci fi food wasn't anything to cheer about, but I really enjoyed the theming.
you want better food try hollywood and vine

We did both on our last trip, I like both, I think the food is better at Prime time. At Sci fi, the front end people are not all nice...to long of story...Inside is fun. Food ok.

My 4 year old nephew will be joining us. So I'm thinking 50's Prime Time for lunch and Sci Fi for shakes and sundaes before Fantasmic. I'm scheduling the Fantasmic dinner package at the Brown Derby today. If the ADR time is early, I think it may be nice to escape the crowds and August heat for some ice cream before the 9 pm showtime.

We've done Sci Fi once and would not return. We had burgers a fries, both severely undercooked, and our waitress just disappeared. It was also very expensive for burgers.

We love PTC, but we also love down home cookin'. I could eat a plate of their collard greens, lol! And we love the meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken and all the fixins. Our only hesitation is we live in the deep south (stone's throw from GA), and we can get these types of menu items here at home for a fraction of the cost -- and, yes, our places even have similar antics as what you see at PTC :)

I think all of your choices are great, but I'm afraid you'll be miserably stuffed if you try to do all 3 restaurants in one day -- even if one is only for milkshakes or sundaes. JMO.

We like 50's Primetime over Sci Fi. Where else can you look at the dessert menu through a view-finder!
