Well, actually neither of them are known for fantastic food. The atmosphere is fun in both restaurants, though.
If you are just adults, I wouldn't really recommend Sci Fi. You actually sit side-by-side in a car to eat, not terribly comfortable. Kids seem to be more impressed with it. It is worth seeing the interior though. You can easily duck inside to take a peek.
The Prime Time is great fun for kids and for adults with a playful streak. Your server is also a performer who will pretend to be your mom, aunt or cousin. I love to play right back with them! I'm not sure if "Auntie Claire" is still there, but she is sort of a Prime Time legend. A great server and lots of fun.
My sons love Sci-Fi for the cars and silly movies. Food is ok and the AC and sitting alone with my husband was enjoyable. Now we have 5 so not sure how we will be situated unless part of the crew join us?
I really enjoy 50's prime time. I think it is a hoot and have fun playing along. Now it is not for every one for sure. If you have some one that would embarras easy stay away.
Loved the ambience of Prime Time and thought the pot roast and desserts were great. Sure you'll be fine wherever you go though, paying for the experience more than the food

Yes, I know we would book the Brown Derby if it was purely the food element! DD is taking her boyfriend, on his first trip, so we wanted something a bit quirky. We've done Sci Fi before when kids were small - remember when they used to give the 'glo in the dark' frisby away??!!!, but I think we'll plump for Prime Time!!
I like Sci-Fi for the atmosphere - just love those old clips, though it's about time they did a new loop. Food is ok too and we've always had good servers.
Have not done Prime Time the queues are always too long but have always got a seat at Sci-Fi immediately or within a few minutes.

Great choice!
Don't forget the rules: no elbows on the table, eat all of your veggies (and don't try to hide them under a napkin!) and if you go to the restroom, when you get back you BETTER know what color the soap is!
