We're leaving for WDW in a few days and have an ADR at 50's PT at some pt (have changed my ADRs so many times I can't remember off the top of my head when it is).

Anyway I've seen some reviews where posters have been having awful experiences. I know that food likes/dislikes can be very subjective (we really don't like Biergarten or Tangeriene Cafe - which are hugely popular here). However, I'd hate to waste a TS if the consensus is that it's really bad.

all opinions welcome :goodvibes

We love it! It is my kids' "must do" restaurant at WDW. We went last May and also in January - everyone enjoyed their food and the servers. We are booked again for July. It's the only restaurant we are doing all three trips since Crystal Palace was closed in January - normally we do Crystal Palace every trip.

my family really likes it there and have gone everytime on the past few trips...i recomend the chicken, but i have had the meatloaf too and it is really good. the dessert wins in my book though..they are cute and really tasty (i love sweets). Even if the food was just ok we would probably still go here as "show" is worth it. The last time, much to the amusment of my family, i was made to stand in the corner for one reason or another. i think is was for trying to make my cousin finish my meal or something like that. its really a good time.

We have never had less than good food at 50's. We have had varying CM experiences though. For the most part, they played their parts quite well, with the exception of one server we had. She has absolutely no personality at all. And she was a poor server to boot.

But the food has always been good. It's pretty plain, for the most part. Very meat and potatoes stuff, which is good by me!!
You are going to get varying reviews of just about everyplace onsite at WDW. There are places that I won't go into any more, but others love it there. I really enjoy Coral Reef, but a ton of people dislike it there.

Everyone should try 50's one time..it's an experience. If you don't like it, you don't have to go back. And you can run into that no matter which restaurant you go to...even if many people like it there and give it glowing reviews.

I like it. The atmosphere is fun, the food is pretty good. It's one of those places I try to make it to on every trip. I even conviced some of my friends to eat there on a visit when I was in camp. We ate with the head of the travel department of the camp. I had our mom have the whole restaurant sing "Happy Birthday" to her.... needless to say it was not her birthday. But thats besides the point.

Bottom line, my opinion is that I like it and you should go.

I'm heading down on Friday and well be eating there at some point this trip.

trying for the first time this coming vacation. I am looking forward more of the atmoshpere and waitress antics, I think kids will get a kick out of it. DH is so not into going here, but he has to buck up and deal. He calls it the TV Dinner Diner. So I hope it is good a good time w/ decent food or I will never hear the end::headache:

People think I'm nuts.. but I really thought the 50s PT was my BEST meal of my last trip ( i got the pot roast) and we had eaten at Le Cellier as well as many other highly sought after places.... This was definitely the best meal of the trip :)

Don't get the fish sandwhich!!!!

Okaaay...now that I've got that out of my system... :lmao:

I really like their pot pie - had it on a chilly day and it was sooo good. DH liked the meatloaf. As to the service, we've been twice and neither time experienced all the "fun" that people talk about. :confused3

We do get a kick out of the decor, though. Everything brings back so many memories from when I was a kid (ummm...of my grandparents house...No, wait...um, I meant great-grandparents house. Yeah, that's it!). ;)

I thought it was a fun restaurant with a good atmosphere. The food is okay - on par with a Friendly's or a Bob Evans. It certainly isn't a five star restaurant but that isn't what it is supposed to be. It is typical diner style food, in my opinion. We enjoyed it.

We went 2 weeks ago and had the nicest waitress. Just friendly enough and not too in your face which we were afraid of. The pot pie was to die for. It will definitely be on our list the next time we go. Good luck!!!

Why not the fish sandwich? We've been three times in five years and I ordered the fish every time.

As far as the antics, I think the waitstaff tries to get a feel for the table. With us, it's just DH, DD15 (now) and myself. Sure, waitress tried a few things, but I've noticed they have a lot more fun with larger groups or people with smaller children. But don't get me wrong, we're okay with that. Bottom line, I think if you start to ham it up with them, they'll play along. Let that be a warning!!!

We love it and it is also our "do not miss every trip" place.
LOVE the fried chicken, green beans and s'mores and LOVE the milkshakes!!

We love it there! We usually do lunch there, it is a lot of food, so we skip breakfast that day and do an early lunch. I usually order the Fried Chicken, it is out of this world! The Pot Roast is also very good. We have had different experiences with the servers. Some really get into the "act" others don't. But, we have always had a great time and great food! I would recommend that you give it a try, and see if you enjoy it.

This is one of our favorites-the fried chicken has always been really good.

ps-they have great cherry coke!!

I started a thread about this a few weeks or so ago....I was worried too because of the bad reviews I'd been hearing about.

After reading all the comments we kept our ADR's and we will try it! Not everyone has the same taste so we didn't cancel based on the bad reviews. And our group is a fun bunch so we will try to make the best of it! I'm excited!

We leave on Mother's Day for WDW!

I have been there multiple times for both lunch and dinner and each time the food tasted great, plus it was always a great atmosphere.

so much really depends on who your wait staff is the table next to us had alot more fun then we did the food isn't great but it isn't bad either it just is, my daughter LOVED the chicken soup she is very tepramental and most of the time wont feed herself (at 2 years old this is getting to be a huge problem, but i digress) and she fed herself that whole bole of soup!

Maybe it was just bad the day I had it. I love fish, but I tasted it for the rest of the afternoon - and not in a good way. I love the fish at the English Pavillion in Epcot, but this just didn't compare.
