50's Prime Time - Mixed Reviews

We enjoyed the 50's PT my DS did not like the meatloaf but he was trying something he never had before but he did like the the chicken pot pie. Our waitress was good fun we will go back next trip

thanks for all your feedback. I definitely won't cancel our ADR. I'm looking forward to it. For those fellow May visitors, have a great time and perhaps we'll bump into each other. Wish my DIS ticker were working -we leave this Thurs at 8:30 am :yay: thx again for the advice!

It was OK in our opinion. We didn't have much interaction with the waitress, so can't speak to that. As for food, dh had the fried chicken which was good, and we enjoyed the collard greens that came with it. Neither one of us cared for the pot roast that I got. The kids meal was just ok as far as I can remember what they thought of it. We probably won't make huge efforts to go back there, but we'd be ok eating there if that was what we could get.

I guess I'm one of the dessenting opinions. The food is OK I was not a fan of getting my horns broken while I'm trying to eat. My entire family felt the same way. After a while the interaction got annoying. That having been said we were clear that is the premise of the restaurant. It's just not for us.

I have ADRs for 50's PT. I've read some good things about it, but I'm afraid of annoying antics. Fun is good. Sillyness is welcome. :thumbsup2 But, I'm not sure how my kids would react if someone asked them to eat their veggies (they love veggies, but not plain/boring veggies). What kind of antics/interaction can I expect?

My family and I love 50's cafe. (My family is me, DH, DDs 14 & 10.) My girls love the antics played by the waitresses...sometimes it can get to be too much but it's not to the point that I wouldn't go back. We have always had great food here. We love the fried chicken, pot roast, and youngest DD loves the meatloaf! My FAVORITE dessert is the brownie sundae! Yummy. DH and I are going in May (our first couples only trip in 3 years!) and we have lunch ressies. I thought about cancelling...only because it's a short trip and didn't know if I wanted to "waste" time here...but after thinking about their food (especially that brownie sundae!)...I think I will keep our ressie. :rotfl:

We have the same concern - this is the only reason we haven't tried 50's yet. And we're big DHS fans, so we're always looking for new options there!

If you're really concerned, I would just let the hostess know when you are being seated; she can tell your server to play it "straight". If you want some of the "show" without them going all-out, I'd suggest privately (step away from the table) telling your server that you have a shy family member...I'm sure they would adjust their routine to suit your family. After all, happy diners equal good tips!

I generally enjoy 50's Prime Time, but it's certainly not a favorite. Now that I have eaten there a couple times, I see no reason to return unless I am taking newcomers. That's not a criticism. There are just other restaurants on property I prefer.

With 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi, I think it's best to consider them attractions more than dining experiences. The food is marginal at both, but the entertainment makes them novel and fun.

I've been here several times and have enjoyed it each time. The pot roast is absolutely delicious and although I don't think any of the desserts are anything particularly special, I love that you can get a shake for your drink on the DDP. The peanut butter and jelly shake is awesome! :thumbsup2

Love it! Been there 8 times. Interaction is a little hit and miss (for me mostly hit) but I've never had bad food. It's not going to turn on your gourmet senses though. It's home cooking kinda food. Pot roast and fried chicken. :cool1:

Good tip - we just made an ADR for our next trip, and I think we'll do this!

Looking back, I think our experience would have been better with the less antics. Had I thought to I would have said something to our hostess, that is a great suggestion. We enjoyed the interaction before dinner, I just hated it going on through the whole meal.
