50's Prime Time--Good experience??

We only ate there once and it was a disappointing experience. Our food wasn't great and we were pretty much invisible to the server. It's been a while since this happened though and I've thought about giving it another shot.

We first went when our kids were toddlers. My 4yr old was terrified! We left w/out eating. We've gone a couple times in the last few years. May '09 (wettest trip ever!) our wait peson was angry w/us because we were dripping all over the floor! She said we needed to do something about it or someone could fall! Not incharacter, but seriously. Really? Did she think we WANTED to eat our lunch freezing and dripping? Anyway, obviously not our favorite place. I'm sure it could be fun under better cicumstances. Foods decent, although we thought the chicken pot pie was BAD! Very bland. Good luck.:) Hope you have a great expirence.

We took our 7yr old grandson and will never forget the look on his face when I was scolded and told I could not have any desert until I ate my green beans. It was priceless!

Check if Aunt Memory is working. She's fabulous. In character but not in a super aggressive way. I found out she has a secret bargaining chip.

It is on our must do EVERY trip. We have never had terrble service and we have always liked the food. Some waiters waitresss are more into than others. I feel we have always had the right amount of interaction.

Your "Aunt" or "Uncle" seats you. One time we were finishing up and my friend told our "Aunt" that everytime he leaves his Aunt (whatever her name is,can't remember-BUT real life Aunt) she sends him home with a tupperware container full of food. Our "Aunt" said "Honey it's bac to reality pay your check":rotfl2:

On other occassions if you don't clean your plate no desert. I had a waiter stab my green beans with the fork and do the airplane into my mouth in front of everyone in the resturaunt. It was funny.

Another funny story, not us but a table next to us. A girl around 11 or so was being a pain in the butt I guess, (I am sure she was just tired, hot etc etc) BUT she apparently wasn't having a good time and was OVER EVERYTHING for the day. Their "Uncle" made an announcement that she was being crabby at Disney world and tilted her back in her chair,She sat arms folded "Grouchy" pose, and he drug her around(in the chair) the resturant announcing her crabbyness and that she was ruining her families trip (or something to that effect). Her famly loved it, they laughed, snapedaway with pictures etc.... the people in our area thought is was funny, so did we.:rotfl2:

There are a lot of other things..have fun and go with it.

We've been very successful and had a great time. Our servers have been really into it. In fact, our last trip, I decided to "tell" on my brother ( I was 35, he was 25 ) and she put me in the corner for tattling. ... all in good fun :)

I think they tend to be good at gauging how ready you are to "participate", so I wouldn't worry about that kind of stuff either ( we were a HUGE group of 22 people! and we got varying degrees of interaction )

I've eaten there about 15 times so far...it's pretty much a must do on each trip. We've usually had really good servers, but once our server wasn't 'into' the schtick too much. I've had Uncle Tim several times..he is hysterical. Our first server was Cousin Chris. OMG!!!! We were there with another family, we both had 8 y/o dd's at the time. My dd had no issue with Cousin Chris's antics. When she couldn't eat all her fries, he sang the camel song he made up..it was hysterical. Her friend, across the table watched this happening and started shoving green beans into her mouth as fast as she could!!! Chris caught me with my elbows on the table...I still have the essay I had to write regarding elbows on the table and why it was wrong. Had to write that on a 50's napkin before I got my meal....too funny.
My eldest dd got a fun server as well....fed her the remains of her sundae when she couldn't finish it...and she was 32 at the time!!! The poor teen boy across from us sassed his server, so he got put ina corner. His parents tried to rent the server for the next day to keep their son on his toes!!!

The servers can pretty much tell if you want to be left alone. Is the food the best you'll ever eat??? No, but it's pretty decent. I haven't had a bad meal there yet.

We go to the 50's everytime we are in the World. Food never disappoints. Even if you don't get a server that does all of the "antics" it is certainly fun to watch all of those around you, we have even joined in with other tables in "playing around". ENJOY

I ate there 4 times and had "Aunt" Cindy 3 of those times. She was awesome when we were in a large group. The other 2 times when it was just the 3 of us, she didn't want to be bothered. I noticed she caters to larger groups and ignores the smaller tables. I like the idea of asking the check-in person for a fun server.

I haven't been to the 50's cafe since I would younger but I LOVED it. Our server wouldn't allow us to order dessert until we finished our vegetables. It was a cute and fun expirence!

Just wanted to add that we have always had fun at Prime Time. It is a must do for us too. We enjoy when we have a server that likes to interact and we play along with them. One time my dh did not eat all his greens and tried to hide them and when our server caught him, she made him stand against the wall with a sugar packet between his nose and the wall. I think the people around us were amused too.

Enjoy and have fun! :goodvibes

Just got back from a 7 day trip. We had 1 TS meal & it was 50sPT. For at least the past 4 trips & maybe longer, it is not an official WDW vacation until we get to PT. We walked in at 11:30am last Monday & had no wait. Much less busy & more antics from the servers in the early lunch hours.

Need more convincing? How about this -- PB & J milkshakes.

Wife always goes with pot roast. I always get fish sandwich.

Have fun

We've been there 3 times...twice for dinner and once for lunch. The first time was for dinner and the food was soooo yummy and our waitress was hysterical! We said it was a MUST for us to do again. The second time our waiter was not fun and the food was just okay. We just went again in June and DH and I decided we'd give it another try. The food was okay and the waiter was just okay too. However he did get my 3.5 year old to eat all of his dinner because he said no dessert if he didn't. We could hear the waitress on the other side and she was hysterical. It made me wish we were sitting at one of her tables. It really is all about the experience. We may go back, but it's not some place I'd put on my "Have to go" list.

We went last week... food was good.. not much of a "performance" but our waitress was good as was the food.( it was 6:50 at night on a very busy day) The Boston Cream dessert was wonderful!!! Yum!!1

We will be at WDW in a few weeks for 7 days and our only ADR is at Prime time. we love it!!:cool1:

We had a great server called *Aunt Janice* back in 07, told DH/DS they would be peeing all day after asking for a refill and for me not to blame her for my drink problem cause I had a wine, she also tried to get DH to stand in a corner with salt on his head for not eating his veg, the stand off was hilarious:rotfl:

We love it and it's a must do for us on every trip! We were just there in June and we had the new option of meatloaf, pot roast and chicken and it was great! It was a ton of food, but I liked being able to try the other more popular food choices because I always get the pot roast.

Oh, and the Dad's brownie is yummy!!

Oh and the s'mores are gorgeous, I hope they do them for CS:thumbsup2

we love that place. we have been there numerous times and only once did we get a waiter not really into it. but if u get a good waitress its great. you should take your phone out as the food is served, keep your elbows on the table, blow straw wrappers at each other(then blame someone else), and dont eat your peas!!! lol! its hysterical!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
