Will the chef prepare the fried chicken for a kid who is on the dining plan? I know it is not on the kids menu but my son loves fried chicken and hardly ever gets to eat it.

Most likely, but expect to pay the normal price for it.

From what I have read, it looks like they can substitute if it is for an allergy reason. If it was just a regular child eating, they would not substitute. And like PP stated, they will probably charge you full price. Hope this helps.

DD prefers those yummy allergy-free chicken tenderloins over the fried chicken so we opted not to go to the 50's Prime Time. However, by the end of our trip she was a bit tired of chicken. We had reservations at the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater as we LOVE the atmosphere. I called Disney Dining from our resort that morning and they eventually got me to the chef there via phone. I explained that she was a little tired of chicken and asked if they could make her some pasta. Chef Dan was VERY friendly & after confirming that she couldn't have gluten or casein asked if she would like spaghetti with marinara sauce. When I confirmed that would be great he asked our reservation time and then said he would go ahead and prepare the pasta in the morning so that we wouldn't have to wait as long for our food. That was REEEEALLY thoughtful, as the long waits for specially prepared food at times was hard for my DD. When we were seated a chef who wasn't Dan came out, but said they had spoken and he was familiar with our conversation. He asked if DD would like GFCF ice cream for dessert and then offered a choice of GFCF toppings. That was the first time while at WDW that she was given a choice of sprinkles, syrup, etc. and that ended up being a real treat! After verifying what she would be having the chef turned to our server and told her what to write on our bill. My DD (8) was charged for a child's meal per the chef's instructions. She was served a HUGE portion of spaghetti which was well-made and tasted like the brown rice Tinkyada brand we usually eat.

Just throwing that out there! Also, I had read about the allergy-free chicken tenderloins being super yummy on DISboards. Oh, my! They are SO, SO scrumptious! We had them in each park as well as at Pop Century and Wilderness Lodge. An adult serving with baked/dedicated-fryer fries (which was a generous size each and every place we ordered them) was $7.99. If you have ever cringed right down to your wallet while buying the mega-expensive, tiny portion box of Ian's GF Chicken Nuggets you will truly appreciate the value of this meal.

Have a great time! BTW, even with all that walking I gained 7 lbs. the week we were there at WDW.....uh-huh, I really did enjoy someone else cooking for a change!

Since I think they have the allergy chicken tenders, most likely that will be considered an acceptable alternative, especially since fried chicken is not on the kids' menu. The chef may agree to make a drumstick instead of the chicken tenders but I wouldn't count on it.

What you can do is order the allergy safe fried chicken for yourself and then you two can split yours and his meal so he can get some chicken and you're still using the meal credits. You can order yourself an allergy safe milk shake and give it him as well (assuming you're fine with not having one yourself; he can only order a milkshake as his dessert with a kids meal). You can definitely make it work within the rules of the DDP.

We ate at 50s Prime Time on Tuesday and our Uncle said that my 7 year old could get the Fried chicken, pot roast, or something else in kid portion. She chose the pot roast and it was a small amount of meat with mashed potatoes and gravy. She did have to ask for extra gravy but she really liked it. Have fun and enjoy your trip!!!
