50s Prime Time Cafe

My teen boys and DH aren't really into that particular '50's PT kind of fun, but we still had a really great time here last Wednesday. We had never eaten here, because I too was afraid that the servers would just be annoying.
My 14 year old was warned about his elbows and made to pass out the silverware for the table. Even he had to laugh at that! Nothing annoying at all happened.
The fried chicken and PB&J shake were fantastic! I asked for white meat and got two chicken breasts. I couldn't eat it all, but it was soooo good. When they bring out the shake, they bring the metal container in which it was made. There were almost 3 full glasses worth of shakes in that $5 container. I quit after 1 1/2, and I gave the remainder to my son.
I think it's one of Disney's best deals for an OOP meal.

A few years ago when I was there for dinner with some of my friends our server started making the airplane sound and then started to feed one of them his because he didn't finish his Vegetables. However it was all in good fun and we all thought it was very funny.

The Smores...ohhh the smores! I want to go back just for that. My problem is my dad doesn't want to go.

The last time we went the server was giving him a hard time about weaing his hat inside. Well the problem with that is my dad wears a toupee and didn't have it on then (toupee+RNR=bad idea! You can hold onto a hat. Keeping a toupee in place is totally different). Needless to say, he wasn't about to take that hat off no matter what the server said. If looks could kill, that server would have been dead for sure. :rotfl2:

It's going to take a lot of convincing to get my dad back there again.

I remember being a young teenager eating there with my family and I just picked at my plate of fried chicken and the waitress give me a hard time about it and then made me stand up and stare at the wall while thinking about "all the starving children in Africa". My family got a big kick out of it, as did the other patrons. I wasn't interested in playing along so it ticked me off, I refused to go back there for a number of future trips. Ha.

I wish I could find my picture...

Several years ago we ate here and DD (now 23) didn't finish her green beans. We ordered dessert and the waitress told DD that she couldn't have any since she didn't clean her plate. She brought out our s'mores and then brought DD a "special" dessert. It was her green beans on a plate topped with whipped cream and sprinkles!!!

We STILL laugh about her dessert today and are planning to go back to 50's Prime Time Cafe on our upcoming trip!!!

I found it!!!

They made my ds and dh wear bibs one time. I had to write sentences for my elbows on the table another time. Last Feb we went and I had just a few green beans left and she did the airplane on me. The table next to us thought it was funny, so she did the choo choo on one of them later. We love it here.

DF had a similar experience when he left his unfinished green beans on his plate...

It's a fun place. As another poster mentioned, they're pretty good and reading most of the guests. DF gets a serious kick out of places like this and WCC, where he almost always ends up with the serious glass of Coke!

I didn't read all the comments, but you can always go to youtube and see if there are any videos there. It's really all in good fun, and they're pretty good at judging how into it you are.

I loved reading all the responses to your post OP. It really gets me excited that we're dining there in Sept. We try to eat there every trip because we love the food and the craziness. Even the decor is fun! If you like milkshakes, be sure to order one...the best I've ever had! Enjoy!:dance3:

We went BC (before children) when my DH had long hair. On his way back from the bathroom a server stopped him and yelled "What did you do with the money I gave you to get a haircut?". Funny!

We love the 50s Prime Time. The first time we went, youngest DD was 4....the waitress yelled at my DH for having his elbows on the table, "pulled" him up by his ear and made him stand in the corner. My DD was so scared she was going to get in trouble she cleaned her plate without a peep...we loved it!

Dh, Ds and myself always make it a must do either for lunch or dinner every trip. We love it. However, if you do not like to bothered during your meal then as others have stated here, then this is not the place to eat.

We personally love to have interaction with our waiter/waitress. There is one particular waitress, for some reason only my son (not here as I write this) remembers her name, who is really fun. She loves to give you a hard time about not eating all your food or just silly stuff. My DH loves to play along with her and was trying to hide his greens one time and was told to stand against the wall with a sugar pack against his nose for a few minutes because she caught him. Of course, this amused everyone near us. DH had a good time with it and played along.

As others said, yes, they all seem to say you need to eat your vegetables, but we have substituted our greens for other vegetables that we like better. I think DS even asked for french fries instead once. I am sure she had a few comments, but he got them. and we probably just paid for them. I am sure you will be fine if you really do not eat all your vegetables, but certainly ask to replace the greens if you know you can not eat them.

I think it is worth trying once and who knows, maybe you will get hooked, like us. ;) Enjoy!!

The Pot Roast and Fried Chicken are worth any amount of embarrassement you may have to suffer! If you're really straight laced and shy, make sure you clean your plate and keep your elbows off the table, or else,!

P.S. Pay attention to the color of the soap in the bathroom!

You can always avoid embarrassment by behaving! After seeing a mom forced to stand in a timeout with here nose against the wall, and a dad called out and forced to eat a few more bites of vegetables, ate my collard greens despite the fact that I generally hate vegetables. We're taking it as a lesson for when we have kids--public shame works!

MIL was adorable..when we dined at 50's PT.:goodvibes I have never seen, that little woman (4'10") EAT SO MUCH!!:rotfl2: She followed EVERY RULE. :thumbsup2

I was a little concerned, we wouldn't have enough interaction, so I asked our server, "are you my cousin..on my mama or daddy's side..";) Thankfully, he took my cue.:goodvibes

Thank you everyone for your replies! I'm excited to try something new this trip! Trying to do a couple old favorites, but I will definitely try 50's Prime Time Cafe thanks to my trusted DisBoarders! :thumbsup2

Has anyone ever turned the tables on a server? Called them a whippersnapper and threatened to tell their Korean war stories or something? :lmao:

I mean not just telling them they didn't want to play, but didn't take the role of being talked down to?
