One of the restaurants that I booked on my next trip is the Prime Time Cafe. I've eaten at the Brown Derby on my last two visits (love their Cobb salad!) and did my Sci Fi experience so Prime Time seemed the next choice. I know the food is "home cooking" and I will probably order either the pot roast or the fried chicken.

What I want to know from my fellow Disboarders is how your experience was. Did you have a good time? Was the atmosphere as cool as Sci Fi's? Please let me know.

Like every place I have had some hits and misses! The decor is really fun with all the retro pieces...(some we laugh at becasue we have/had them in our house!)

You can get a great server that has you in stiches the entire time or one that just gives you your food.

If you have done the others..go for it!

I do have to say most of the time I get a great CM who is on....It has been rare when one isn't.

We just ate there last week and had a great time. The service was fantastic and the food as well.

We always eat at both Sci Fi and Prime Time each year.

We had an amazing time. We were a large group ( 15 ) so we were seated at two seperate tables with two different servers. Both servers offered up a different experience. My parents and DW had a strict "aunt", and my kids, cousin and myself had the playful ( but still somewhat "strict" "sister" ). But were really great and made for a fun, funny time. Seeing my 60 year old mother being made to take one more bite by "choo choo" made the whole trip ha ha...

As for the food, it was very good. I myself had the pot roast. a few other people in our group had the chicken and said it was very good.

we like 50s for the pot roast, onion rings and brownie sundae - love the black and white TVS showing old food related sitcom clips, the theming of the formica kitchenettes, all the kitchen decorations everywhere - only once i went there sick (with a fever) and just sat there like a blob, eating my chicken noodle soup - otherwise it's always good fun!

We liked it better than SciFi. While I LOVE the whole drive-in concept and the food was fine, the service was not great, it is very dark and difficult to converse with anyone....if you are in car with strangers it is close, and the movies are too hokie.

Our 50's meal was low key because the "antics" would not be good for my DS, but the service was great and food good as well. One of our best meals of the week.

Here is the Pot Roast, Meatloaf & Dessert :thumbsup2 ~

I hate the Prime Time Cafe. The food is mediocre, but I despise the schtick there. The whole "eat your vegetables" and "keep your elbows off the table" is annoying.

We LOVE 50's prime time! both the food and the atmosphere are remarkable!! one year my "cool" 10 year old cousin didnt eat his vegetables and our waitress made him sing "Im a little Teacup" in front of our side of the restaurant! it was HILARIOUS!

I was very skeptical on our last trip as adult DS didn't want a lot of "nonsense" directed at him (i.e. being force fed his green beans). I almost cancelled the ADR for this reason.
We went and had a great time. We loved the decor, the food was very good, and our server seemed to sense exactly the correct interaction with us. He made DS "Set the Table" and he teased DH for "licking his plate clean", but he was not over the top.
We had a great time - even DS :) and we would go again.
Have a Great Trip

OMG! My mouth is watering from the picture of my favorite meal at 50's PTC, the Pot Roast. DH and I love it! AHH, only a couple more weeks till I'll be there eating it!

We go to 50's on every trip and we have never had bad food. We also don't get "bothered" too much with the antics. They usually ask if you have been there before, and where you are from. Once we tell them we come every year and are from NY, they usually don't go "crazy" with the antics. We have never been spoon fed our food or forced to eat all our veggies. They do have us set the table and keep our elbows off the table. I love it and am not bothered by it at all. I once saw people come in late for their ADR and the servers made them apologize to everyone in their section. I saw a young girl have to sing I'm a little Tea Pot because she wouldn't eat her veggies. I think the servers can read people pretty well and know who they can play with.

The two times my family and I have been there for lunch have been great experiences. Our serves were very funny and very much into their character, so it was fun being told all their rules of the restaurant.

thanks for the responses guys and gals. Now I am really looking forward to our meal there. Pot roast yummy. :goodvibes

OMGosh, that sundae looks like something straight out of a Betty Crocker 50's Cookbook! :rotfl2: I'm really looking forward to this meal, specifically because of the kitschy atmosphere and the silly antics of the servers. But I'm gonna make darn sure that I order vegetables like, because I don't want have to eat them with whipped cream and sprinkles

We love eating at Prime Time. Our food has always been good there and we have had a great time with our servers.
