I know a lot of you out there are major fans of this hot spot. I've ate at Sci-Fi before and didn't like it at all. So the other choices are 50's, Mama Melrose, & Hollywood & Vine. H&V Doesn't sound appealing at all. So that left Mama Melrose & 50's. I assume we should try 50's because it's such a crowd favorite. My question is, what are your favorites from each course of the meal (app, entree, and dessert)? I'm just not sure what really appeals to me, so I'm trying to get opinions. Thanks! :)

As far as 50's PT goes, I like the Beer Battered Onion Rings, Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes (I like to substitute Green Beans for the Southern Greens) and the PB&J Milkshake for dessert. If I just had the PB&J shake, I would be perfectly content.

Fried Herb Cheese
Tie between the fried chicken or pot roast
Angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream ... mmmmm!

Onion Rings or the Fried Boursin cheese
Fried Chicken (to die for)
dessert.......well I'm usually so full I can't eat much dessert!

(um, I see a trend here, it's all fried!)

HAHAH Me too... perhaps I will have to try the fried chicken!

Fried chicken!!

I think their onion rings are good and the fried cheese gets RAVE reviews so I'd love to try that!

DW likes the pot roast, DD likes the fried chicken, and - unbelievably - I like the meat loaf, and I don't especially like meat loaf. Onion rings, fried cheese for aps.

And, like another poster, the PB&J shake blesses my heart. It tastes like a Reeces cup.

The s'mores could feed your average Roman legion. It's a lot of dessert.

We love 50's!!! Some of our favorties are the Meat Loaf and the Chicken Pot Pie! For dessert the ice cream!!

I agree that the fried cheese is good. Now I didn't care for the pot roast, there wasn't enough ketchup on the table to make it taste good. The PB&J shake was good but I got tired of it after a while, if I was able to share it with someone else that would have been better, but my DW got her own shake. Just be aware, what makes this place so kewl is your waiter/waitress. Ours was lackluster, thus our experience was lackluster. Now the section next to ours had an awsome waiter so we were able to see what the draw to the place was. Crossing my fingers so you get a good waiter/waitress.

We ate at MM in Dec and I will not go back, the food is so bland and blah....

50's is our favorite, the cocktails, fried chicken and smores are to die for!

I have another quick question as well now. Does 50's allow you to take the milkshakes to go?

One of our favorite places!!! The DGDs love the fried chicken, I like the pork loin and also the pot roast. DH loves just about everything else!:rotfl: And our desserts are just as varied. The girls like the ice cream sundaes, me the brownie/ice cream and DH.....everything else!:rotfl2:

...at least my favorites from the last visit!!:rotfl:

Dad's Sundae, the Cracker Jacks on top are my favorite part of this sundae.

I got the fried chicken and I thought the greens were absolutely wonderful.

For an appetizer, I would highly recommend the fried Boursin Cheese.

The food is good homestyle comfort food, but the atmosphere is what makes the meal here great. My DD13 got put in the corner by "Uncle Tim" for not eating her veggies. When she got to the corner by the kitchen, someone from the kitchen yelled out, "think about what you've done young lady". Soooooo Funny!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

That picture is great. We had a great waitress the last time we went. Her name is Auntie Claire. We had a blast with her. We have had the cheese, onion rings, fried chicken and pot roast. My favorite desert is the strawberries/blueberries and angel food cake. Hubby and I will be returning in September and will probably share a meal. It is sooo much food. Can't wait.

The fried cheese was really good as was the fried chicken and those mashed potatoes- delish! I wouldn't normally eat the southern greens but I did and boy..they were good too! I couldn't fit dessert in. LOL
