50's or sci fi

DH and I prefer 50's PT, better food and more fun atmosphere with the cast members. DS (10) has always been a big fan of Sci-Fi because he likes the movies and sitting in a car. This year we ended up going to both. While at Sci-Fi I kept wondering why I let DS talk me into this place. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

I'm in the minority and chose Sci-Fi as well. Personally, I don't find the food at either to be especially good. However, for lunch, a burger is suffice for me, and there's nothing wrong with Sci-Fi's. I happen to like the atmosphere of Sci Fi better as well.

I am also a Sci-Fi supporter. We go there every trip. We love the atmosphere and the burgers.

Then I head over to the book store next door and grab a cappacino :cool1:

Can not wait to go back.

which resturaunt is better 50's Prime time or sci-fi? i have a five year old girl and I didn't know which is more funa dn of course, which has better food.
Are you going in January by any chance, if so 50's will be closed most of January. Just a FYI.

:earsgirl: I think the 50's would be lost on a five year old...my daughter got nervous because the waitress kept yelling at her for her elbows on the table..the tv shows on the little tvs ..our kids don't know what they are...sci fi is bright and you sit in cars like at the drive in theater..I thought the food was veryy good and they have drinks that have glow in the dark fake icecubes..my kids had a blast with them for the longest time.,,plus it depends on when you're going..i heard prime time is going to be closed sometime in jaunuary..well have a great time...

I just read about the food poisening and remembered that me and my kids. and neices and nephews ate at sci fi one night ..we ate the pasta dish...loaded with garlic..we all ended up throwing and diareaha all night....plus I could taste garlic all the next day...but it was worth it..the burgers and the steak are great..but stay away from the pasta..

We like the sci-fi, the atmosphere was fun. My kids love it, but we just had burgers as well.

We love Sci Fi. Its the only restaurant we have been to on each of our WDW trips. I don't think our kids would let us skip it! We do lunch and stick to burgers or the reuben. They are both huge so DH and I usually share. It is always very quiet and relaxing in there. We have always had great service. As for the food poisoning thing, it can happen anywhere. DH got food poisoning at Marrakesh in October but I would still go back (not sure he would however ;) ) 50's looks fun but I we just can' stay away from Sci Fi!

We ate at Sci-Fi last Friday and had a great meal! The atmosphere was fantastic, our server was loads of fun and the food was good too! We have eaten at Prime Time too- we preferred Sci-Fi!

50s Prime Time. I have impure thoughts about their fried chicken.

Sci Fi hands down. :cheer2: We tried 50's once and didn't like the "attitude" bit of the wait staff. When we're hungry and thirsty, we don't want to have to perform for our food. :confused3 :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I will also vote for Sci Fi, my kids love it, and it really is a fun atmosphere, we go for lunch, the dinner menu does not do it for us....I shoud also add that they did enjoy going to Prime time cafe and having the waiter picking on me, but one time there was enough.

Just another vote for 50's Prime time.
Really good food.
Good to Great service (depends who you get)
Great Surroundings
Is prime time the only place you can get those light up ice cubes? My kids loved them.
Be sure to make reservations as always......... I hate waiting at Disney restaurants, I feel I'm missing out on so much stuff just waiting.

Goofydad, here's a pic for you:

50's Prime Time!

We love it there. The food is good, 99% of the time we have had awsome severs that really get into their job (which makes all the difference!).

But you really need to be in the mood for the 50s. If you dont want to "play" or get yelled at for your elbows on the table, spoon fed your veggies by someone else, etc, skip the place. The 50s is no place for the cranky people...LOL!

Actually the last time we were there, my DH got "in trouble" for playing with his food. The server came over to reprimand him, and our then 21 month old DS got very upset someone was yelling at his Daddy.

I much prefer Sci-Fi, but only for burgers, rings, and shakes. The whole interactive thing at PT and at WC doesn't do much for me. :confused3

Sci Fi All the Way!!!!

Sci Fi has really cool car tables that you sit in to watch the movie screen.
I loved drive in movie theaters as a kid and Sci Fi brings some of the memories back.

Hamburgers, ham sandwhiches onion rings and milkshakes are yum yum yummy!!

50's has great food however our experiences there have totaly depended on the CM that served us. Some have way too much attitude. Sometimes I'm too hot and tired to listen to someone telling me to get my elbows off the table and eat all of my green beans (even though I don't care for them).

We've been to both -- DS (7) was TOTALLY freaked out by the monster/horror movie trailers so just based on that I would strongly advise you against Sci-Fi for a five year old! I see that there is a range of opinions (naturally!) on the food -- we enjoyed our meals at both places, DH and I thought the atmosphere at Sci-Fi was great, but the silly horror movie stuff really ruined the meal for our son. He's not a scardy-cat type at all, but for him the black and white, old movies came across as scarier than what he's comfortable with, and I have to admit that I was a little surprised at how "graphic" some of the clips were -- rotting skin on the living dead, etc., that's clearly fake to an adult but quite disturbing for kids.
