50's interaction?

Hi,

If we weren't really into a LOT of interaction at 50's Prime Time Cafe, do you think that would be a problem? I mean, I like the idea, and I don't mind a little fun, but I really don't want my mother harassed by someone if she decides to not eat her green beans, you know? If you are a table of adults, how good are the servers at picking up on your level of desire for interaction?

Thanks,

KC :sunny:

Part of the fun of 50's PTC is the interaction, but I can understand how some people might not appreciate being told to stand and sing "I'm a Little Teapot" for having their elbows on the table.

When you check-in, ask if you can be seated with a "quiet" or less interactive server (there are some there). The servers are usually good at picking up on the guest's desire for interaction. If not, just motion to him/her and whisper something like "we'd like a little fun, but not too much for my mother, please." That's what we did when my MIL went with us and it was a great experience for all of us.

My mother and myself ate at 50's last November, before I found these boards, and had never been there before. We were there pretty late, and we had just ended 2 days of high speed commando touring and were exhausted. We had a very nice waitress but absolutely no antics, so I am assusming the can sense when to and not to pour it on.

I agree that the waitstaff is very good at picking up on who want to play and who doesn't. My DS and I enjoy the 50's Prime Time and watching the antics, but have never wanted to be involved. We have been there three times and my DS has only been accused of having his elbows on the table, and even these were done very lightly. BTW....as quiet as he is, he loves to tease the waitstaff by holding his elbows just a little above the table to get a rise out of them :rotfl: .
A great place that doesn't get enough credit for it's really good food and generous portions.

Well, it was the menu that decided me - it looks delicious! Here's a good question though - I love appetizers, and while there are those in my group who may order entrees, I will probably only get appetizers and coffee - do you think this will be a problem?

No problem with ordering just appetizers. I have seen this done and it doesn't matter to the waitstaff.

:flower: .... to miss the opportunity to get revenge on mom for all those time she made you eat all your veggies or busted you for your elbows on the table? I think it's a Kodak-moment waiting to happen.... go with it!

Seriously, we're taking my mom (79) and the best way to decribe my loving mom would be, "Granny" from the Beverly Hillbillies and all I can say is, thos servers need to be afraid... very, very afraid. :guilty:
