$500 for a class ring????

Mine was less than $100 (but that was back in the early 1970's). I recall giving my class ring to my girlfriend and that she lost it. Eventually it was found in the ashes of their burn pile. (They lived an a farm and burned their trash - Apparently little sister had thrown my ring in the waste paper basket). I returned the favor, so to speak, and lost my girlfriend's class ring. I bought her another one because I felt badly about losing hers.

Fast forward to five years after HS graduation. I went to my parents house and retrieved my class ring (having long since broken up with my high school sweetheart) and started wearing it. I went out to celebrate my 23rd birthday at Friday's and had way too many pina coladas. When I got home, I took off the ring and, as I was setting it down, thought to myself "Don't set it there. You'll never find it." The next morning, I could not for the life of me find that darn ring. And I have never found it. I went to my high school reunion sans ring. It was the first and last high school reunion that I attended. To this day I wonder where the heck I set that blasted ring.

The ring we ordered for my son was $485. We ordered white gold. The first ring my son picked out was crusted with diamonds. I asked my son what was next, bling bling for this teeth? We found a happy medium. :goodvibes

I think mine was about $600 when I graduated in 99, which I paid for myself and I paid for my cousins in 03 and it was about $750

Do you still wear it? We paid a bundle for DS's in 2000 and he wore it about 2 or 3 months and never put it on again.

I was super broke in college and wanted to go out, and pawned my class ring for some extra cash. I wish I was making this up, but sadly it's all true. :sad2:

My dad was buried with his college class ring on. He wore it his entire life. My sister wears my mom's sometimes. My class ring was stolen out of my house--the thief took the oddest things but left cash and good jewelry, and left DH's class ring that was right next to mine in my jewelry box.

my parents bought my ring from the person that the school went through. it was less than $200 and i got it in my senior year. three years later and i'm still wearing it.

Well, a college class ring is a bit different. I'd wear a college ring or lodge ring today if I had one. Once out of H.S., most people would never wear the H.S. class ring, IMO.

Got Disney wrote: But I am 50, menopauseal and have 2 boys that are only 10 and 13, so what do I know

I know what you mean...I'm 54, with 2 DSs...18 years apart!!! (Does that qualify me for the old-fogie club?;) )

TC:cool1:

You are not in the old fogie club :rotfl: Now my brother who is 52 has a 4 month old baby! :rotfl2: His other 2 children are 27 and 30 I believe!! :lmao: :lmao:

I don't know about that. I wore my HS class ring from 10th grade when I got it through the end of my college. Though I think maybe there was a time when my DH (then DF) carried it on his keychain. I got my college class ring right after graduation and wore it a year if that.

I agree with you about wearing a high school ring. In fact, it wasn't too highly thought of to wear a high school ring when I was in college ('93-'97).

I didn't get a high school ring because I knew I wouldn't wear it after high school, plus I didn't care for the styles available.

nope! I wore it for about a year then put it in the box and now it's in my top drawer. At least I did better then my cousin, he wore his to prom then lost it that night! it never even made it to graduation:headache: he's lucky he's my favorite or I would have killed him!!
