50 Movie Theme Nights To Countdown To A Glass Slipper Challenge *3/2 Snow White Theme Night*

I'm in!

As someone who has done the Rebel Challenge (which was an emotional roller coaster) and the Glass Slipper Challenge (which went much better emotionally), congrats on deciding to run at Disney! The race environment is very energized and for the most part, people are supportive. As long as you finish ahead of the balloon ladies, you are more than safe for the challenge. Signing up through a charity is also exciting! I have my trip report for Star Wars in my signature - I'm doing a Dining Report for Princess as I didn't bring the real camera on that trip - just the cell phone.

Very cute for your first movie night.

Thank you!

Thanks for joining! I will have to check out your dining report because we LOVE to eat! We have always done the Deluxe plan in the past, but aren't sure if we will continue with that or not. If we were, we would probably stick to just one table service meal and one signature meal every day.

Movie Night #1 ~ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ~ Decorations
Well, I was able to successfully make my apple candles tonight. I have to say, they turned out pretty cute and only took me a total of thirty minutes to make four of them, clean up and all.

What I used for this project...
4 apples. I used Braeburn.
4 tea lights
Sharpie Marker
Sharp paring knife
Melon Baller

Remove the stem from the apple and trace the tealight with the Sharpie.

Cut just outside the line you made with the sharpie. Then, scoop out the inside of your circle with the melon baller.

Place the tealights inside the apples.

TaDa!! I really do not think of myself as a crafty person, but these were super easy and turned out really cute.

Movie Night #1 ~ Snow White ~ Recipes

I did want to compile a list of recipes that I used, in case anyone else would like to use them. I made my apple pie last night to make sure that I had enough time today.

I always make an effort to make as many things at home from scratch as is reasonable. Of course I recognize that not everyone has the luxury of time, so I try to make things that are easily adaptable and that can be store bought as well.

German Potato Salad

I used the kind from a can. I like it better than homemade, personally.

Jessica's Tailgate Brats

If there is one thing a Wisconsin girl knows how to do, its brats.

Ingredients
1 package of 5 Johnsonville Brats (not pre-cooked)
4 bottles beer (I used Miller. You don't have to get fancy with the beer, it would just be a waste)
1 Yellow Onion

Peel and quarter the onion. Place the onion, beer and brats in a large pot over medium heat. Cook until brats are cooked through, about 15-25 minutes.

If you prefer to get a little color on your brats, you can grill them for a few minutes on each side, or use a grill pan. Given that it was about 15 degrees here, I opted not to grill.

Jessica’s Cider Apple Pie

(If you’re running short on time, substitute canned apple pie filling)

2 Pillsbury pre-made pie crusts (1 box)
6 medium or 4 large granny smith apples
½ to 1 Cup apple cider or Simply Apple Juice (if you can’t find cider, use the Simply Apple. I don’t recommend substituting another brand of juice, because you want the cider flavor)
2-4 Tablespoons butter
½ Cup sugar
¼ Cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Unroll one of the pre-made pie crusts and press into the bottom of a pie plate. Trim excess crust from the sides using a paring knife, discard excess crust.

Peel, core and slice the apples. In a large frying pan, melt one tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Layer the apples in the bottom of the pan in a single layer. Lightly caramelize the apples on both sides. Once both sides of the apple have been caramelized, add ¼ cup of the cider or apple juice to the pan. Simmer apples until most of the liquid has been evaporated. Transfer to a mixing bowl. Repeat until you have sautéed all of the apples.

Once you have sautéed all of the apples, add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour to the mixing bowl. Stir gently until the apples are evenly coated. Transfer to the pie crust.

Unroll second pre-made crust over filling. Trim overhanging edge 1 inch from pie plate edge. Fold and roll top crust over lower crust, pressing on edge of pie plate to seal. Cover edge with 2-3 inches of aluminum foil. Bake 40 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. Remove foil for last 15 minutes of baking. Serve.

Movie Night #1 ~ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ~ Pictures

After all was said and done tonight, everything tasted amazing. Looking back at the pictures though, I wish I would have maybe done red cabbage as a side instead of kraut because EVERYTHING was beige or brown. Not very exciting for the eyes!

I love to apple candles! I will have to try that out. I love the idea of doing movie nights to countdown to WDW! So clever!
BTW----if I had to pick a resort from the four your posted, I would definitely do the Polynesian Village. It looks so beautiful! Also, who doesn't love the monorail?

Thanks for the advice! I have never stayed at a Deluxe Resort before, so it would be pretty incredible. We need to get booked into something so we are set at the six month mark, but will probably change depending on what the Spring discounts are.

Wonderful idea! Thanks so much for sharing. It really "steps up" movie night to have a matching meal or dessert, and I have to cook dinners anyway! Who knew there are Disney movie pairings blogs too? If I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't have.
