$50 Itunes card for $35 Walmart Saturday 11/6

Just got back from Walmart. Apparently they are having a chain-wide problem with activating the I-tunes cards. After waiting around, they first said to take two $15 and a couple of tens, but then decided that wouldn't work since the ten dollar cards are only sold in packs of three, and they didn't know how to handle it. Then they said to take SIXTY dollars worth of $15 cards and they would still honor the price. I thought, "Sweet!" However, they couldn't figure out how to do it on their cash registers, so finally I ended up with a rain check. Hope I don't have a problem with it later.

DH has been to two WalMarts trying to get the itunes cards. They did not tell him at the first one that is was a company wide issue. They are just telling him to come back in a little bit and the problem should be solved. They are not offering rain checks. I surely wish they would do that. I am afraid when he goes back, they won't offer the price.

Our Walmart just took our names and phone #'s and will call when they get it straightened out. :confused3 Will see.

I'm sorry for the issues butbam glad I didn't ask DH to head over for the iTunes cards. That was the only thing I was interested in and frankly to spend all that time and gas (nearest walmart is about 30 mins away) just didn't seem worth it.

I hope the issue is fixed.

I forgot to say a huge THANK YOU to the op for posting this. I would not have known about this otherwise. Thirty bucks is a a nice little chunk of change.

Same issue here. They took our name and phone number and put three cards aside for us. They said they will call us by 4pm. Fingers crossed.

Like a pp, at first they said just come back later, but we said "no way". Then they agreed to put them aside and call us when the issue was resolved.

I just got back from Walmart. They said the satellite was down for I-tunes. They refused to sell any cards. No rainchecks, or taking of nubmers either. That stinks, because I really thought it was a good deal!

Just got back also. I was told the sale was only till 2pm and they have no idea when the satellite will come back up. They have two on hold for me and will call me..

Same problem with the iTunes card. Got there at 8am to get my cards and was told they couldn't activate them after they tried my credit card twice and had to void it out. Some just left but a few of us stuck around and after 45 minutes of arguing, the store manager came down from her upstairs office and gave us a raincheck and should call to let us know when it's fixed. Hopefully they'll call. If not, I may check back later today. I can't believe this is happening. The store didn't even know about the sale till almost 8am this morning.

We had the same prob here. They took our name and told us they would hold a card and call us when it was fixed.

That does stink
My Walmart was very good about issuing rainchecks, I overheard the manager on the walkie talkie tell the woman-" whatever we need to do to take care of the customer". They could have had a better system in place for giving the rainschecks, but ll in all I was happy that they gave them to us instead of throwing up their hands and saying oh well.
I hope everyone else has good luck :goodvibes

I don't really believe the satellite story. I checked out at a regular register, not in electronics. There was a young kid in front of me who was purchasing a $25 card. I told him about the sale, but all he had with him was $25, so that is all he could afford. His card was activated no problem, and yet people who checked out beforehand and afterwards (me) could not get the $50 ones activated.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I was the very first customer in Electronics, and they spent 20 minute trying to sell me the cards -- but never did. First they had a problem because the computer didn't want to accept that the card amount didn't match the sale amount, and then they couldn't activate the card.

They did put my name on two cards, which are saved in Electronics, and they told me I could come back later in the day to purchase them. Hopefully by then the problem'll be solved.

I can see why selling a gift card for a lower price is a difficult thing. Maybe they should've done something like Red Robin (and other restaurants) do around Christmas: Buy a $25 gift card and get an extra $5 gift card for free. That cuts out the dollar-figure-not-matching issue.

They were really trying to fix the problem. A superviser came back to Electronics, and she tried numerous things. I can't fault their efforts, and I really do think it was purely a technical problem.

When I was behind the woman who was the first to have problems, my first thought was its because the total $ amount doesn't match, there is probably something in the system that doesn't allow you to activate it in those cases. Who knows, I hope they figure something out for everyone, its such a good deal.

I wonder why they couldn't just charge the regular $50 price and then immediately refund the $15? More work for them, for sure, but I think people would be happy with that solution. I would.

I checked out at 8 am at the front of the store with no problem at all. Weird.

Hope everyone gets their cards. It's a pain to thave to go back to the store though.

I just wanted to thank whoever posted this. I had not heard of the sale until I read this thread.

I went to Wal-Mart this morning and had no problems getting my card. My daughter will be so surprised to get a $50 card on Christmas!

My Walmart just called, too. Said I could bring my raincheck to the podium to get my cards. I think I will see if I can just find some on the floor and maybe see if one of my dds wants to use my raincheck.

We got to Walmart at 8am and there was a long line for the tvs. I asked if I had to wait in line to get the iTunes gift cards and they said no. They gave them to me and I was able to check out in front, no problem. They said they had plenty of them, too.
