surprised they extended anyone points , we bought our contract few months before the covid thing started and they made us eat our first year points, paid the thing off in full day we bought it.

With the resorts completely shut down for 3 months at WDW, 8 months at Aulani, and 14 months at VGC, they felt it made sense to offer owners a chance to have some of their own points to replace the ones that would have expired during closure...or shortly thereafter. So, they did not actually extend the points but rather transfer points they owned to others.

You are correct, it is not something that they had to offer owners....but they did it because this is not something that had ever happened before.

Credit where it's due.. We called Member Services (to load points) and whilst we were on the phone I asked if we could extend 105 points which we just received on a new resale contract.. Member Services said they would fill in the forms and commence the extension. Even more interesting is borders are now open, I would have thought the undocumented points extension policy would be finished.

Lets hope that they do it for you! Not sure when they will expire, but you won't have access to the new points DVC will give you until about a week after they officially are gone. Just keep that in mind as you won't be able to book with them until then, and I believe it will require a call to MS to have them book for you.

Yeah I’m thinking I should probably rent them out. I was first told that they had to be used by May 31st. Then I was was told I could use them in a June reservation. No idea

The extensions are until the end of May, but I did read one report that someone was allowed to get them to agree to August...but this is case by case. In all situations, though, you won't have them until the start of the UY after they expire, and I don't think they just put them in your account. I think you have to book with them since they are not really your points, but DVD owned points.

I guess once they are gone, and you call, you will know for sure what you will be able to do! I think the reason they may still be allowing it is because travel did just open and since the policy is in please already, it does make sense to allow any international owner who still needs it to be eligible. I'm trying to figure out how that could have happened? If you bought direct then you received current points and should have either been in your banking window or the few UY's that were passed were given exemptions and the points were automatically banked if they were not used.
