50 Animated Movies Challenge **I Did It!!**

I didn't see "Song of the South" on that list. Has Disney revised its history to forget that it was a theatrical release?

I saw SotS at its very last theater release. I know it's not available on DVD, at least here in the U.S., and I've read that it will never be released because it's not politically correct, but to not include it in a list of all animated movies?

Song of the South isn't included because it isn't solely animation (just like Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks aren't included), because they also contain live action they aren't classified as 'animated Disney Classics'. Sorry!

Didn't realize those weren't considered animated movies. I didn't even look for those because I know they've been released; I only examined the list for the Disney movie I know will (likely) never be released again.

List appears not to include sequels that weren't made for theaters.

Big shock, was that we own tapes or DVDs of 45 on the list. Couple of gaps for 40's movies.

I was surprised to find that I have watched 45 of them...owning most of them. Missing from my complete Disney indoctrination are:

6 Saludos Amigos (1942)
24 The Fox and the Hound (1981)
27 Oliver & Company (1988)
34 The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
39 Dinosaur (2000)

What a fun list to work through! It made me think about the times I saw films in the theater as a kid {The Rescuers was the 1st movie I remember my Mom taking me to}, the ones I took my children to {saw Aladdin at the Post theater in Germany with my oldest}, the ones that bored me silly {Treasure Planet} and the ones that I can watch over and over {I'm a closet Meet the Robinsons junkie!}. Good Times! Thanks....

{I'm a closet Meet the Robinsons junkie!}. Good Times! Thanks....

We love that movie in our house too! That's one I never hear much about. It's just so crazy! Also, a favorite with us is Emperor's New Groove which is another overlooked movie. We quote that one all the time.

For the longest time, my least favorite movie was "Sword in the Stone". It felt like little vignettes rather than a full movie. Well, it was my least favorite until...

..."Home on the Range". This movie was one major disappointment after another.

Meet the Robinsons is definitely underrated! So many Walt Disney tributes! Emperor's New Groove is one of my favourites!! So many good lines.

'It's called a cruel irony. Like my dependence on you!' :rotfl:

What a fun thing to do....we did something like this before our trip in 2008. On that list, there's only 3 I haven't seen....#25 The Black Cauldron, #39 Dinosaur, and # 41 Atlantis: The Lost Empire....I think my daughter and grand daughter own most of them....I'll have to raid her house and start watching them in order.

I'll have to raid my nephews collection for a few as well. I thought I had a VHS of Dumbo but I can't find it. It may have ended up at his house :)

I'm on #2 of my movie challenge. The Blu-Ray of Pinnochio is just beginning. :happytv: Soon it will be two down, 48 more to go :woohoo:

Just started our pinnochio blu-ray here! We have about 100 days to our trip so I'll need to pick up the pace to get thru them all!

Pinnochio was very good. Figero was my favorite. He is such a cute cat. I don't remember him from watching the movie years ago.

Fantasia is up next. I should get the movie from Netflix by the weekend. :goodvibes

We wAtched fantasia today. I'm sure I get some demerits for even thinking this, but I was kinda bored. :confused3 I guess my toddler is rubbing off on me - i needed something more to keep my interest. :rotfl: but we watched it. 47 more to go in the next 96 days!

So we are falling behind, but our September trip is off and we are headed to Disney in 8 days, so I'm sure we won't see all the movies by then :lmao:

We apparently do not own bambi, so I skipped it and today we watched saludos Amigos and the three cabballeros. They are in one disc so it was easy enough to just start the second when the first one ended. they were definitely different - I can see why they weren't big on our list to see before now, but they were cute enough to entertain my little guy for a few minutes at a time.

How's everyone else doing with the challenge?

I just finished with Fantasia. I was bored to. :confused3 I guess it's just not my thing. Oh well....on to Dumbo if I can find it :scared1: I thought I had it on VHS but I can't find it and it's not currently available on Netflix. I may have to borrow it from my Nieces and Nephew.

I do have Bambi on VHS so I may have to skip over Dumbo until I can find a copy of the movie. Only 46 more to go :happytv: Good thing I still have 172 days to go :rotfl:

I found a copy of Dumbo for rent. I just finished watching it. It's so cute!!:lovestruc I'll have to get the Blu-Ray when it comes out later this year.

Bambi is up next :happytv:

I've been working on it for about a year and a half now, (I just reviewed Lilo & Stitch and just watched Treasure Planet).

The most interesting part of watching in order is seeing how technology has improved the quality of the film, but not always the story telling.

You can follow my progress here: My Random Ramblings.

I think that this is such a cool challenge. Good for you for coming up with this idea!! Keep us posted!

I just bought on DVD-
Saludos Amigos
Fun and Fancy Free
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Gonna try to find sometime to watch them now!
