Today marks our five years with DVC and as most other DVC owners have said, I wish we did it sooner. Funny story how we bought though while in the Magic Kingdom on the night before we purchased my wife walked up to the DVC kiosk and asked the CM if they had any discounts and his answer was "why yes we do" with the heat and humidity in August I thought my wife was joking but the next day our family was picked up by van and taken over to SSR and during the trip over my wife kept telling me we were only looking and not buying.
On arrival at SSR our kids went to the kids club and our guide took around SSR and we were just amazed at the size of it as we went on my wife kept asking questions I would have never thought of as we sat down back in the office she continued with the questions then when she asked for his calculator I knew what she was up to. I then asked her I thought we were only looking and she turns to me and says "we can do this" and all I could do was laugh the rest is history. We bought our points and they tried to get us our last two nights at BCV but had no two bedrooms available but that was fine we knew then that all our future were going to be different. We are booked next June at SSR and the countdown has begun...:thumbsup2

Here is our story. We first encountered DVC in 1998 at Vero beach. We went through the sales pitch and got $50 gift card to onsite restaurant, but did not buy. It was selling for $57 per point at that time. Fast forward to 2000 and we were at Hilton Head looking at a Marriott timeshare where they gave us a great deal to stay at their hotel just to go through sales pitch. Long story short we figured out Disney had a DVC on the island. We went over and went through their sales pitch and were so impressed we bought on the spot at $65 per point. Needless to say we did not tell Marriott we bought a different timeshare while on their dime.

Boy oh boy do I wish we had bought sooner-we bought in 2009 onsite at SSR and bought BLT as our first home resort. We have since added GC as our 2nd home resort. We originally went to a sales pitch back in 2000 and I how I wish I could turn back time and bought at those prices. No regrets just wish we had bought sooner.
Love our DVC!

Oooh purchasing stories, Fun! My husband and I first went to the DVC presentation during our second trip together, maybe 2003. We had no intentions of buying, just wanted to find out more. Our guide gave us 9 instant fast passes. I think he messed up, because each of these 9 fast passes gave us three instant fast passes each, and when they stopped working at one park, they would still work at another park. Even better yet, they worked all the remaining days of our trip! For two people we had 27 instant fast passes per park per day. :rotfl2:
During our next trip we scheduled a DVC tour for the very first day hoping to get these same magic fast passes again. No such luck, they had fixed the system, and much to our surprise we had the same guide who even remembered us. (He must have taken good notes!) Our reason for not buying that time was we were saving for a house, and I would have felt ridiculous having a time share before a house.
Fast forward a few more years and we had a house. We went to the presentation again, in 2009, this time prepared to buy because we would be starting a family soon. Sticker shock and our inability to find lower financing than 10% kept us from purchasing.
Fast forward again, it's 2011. We have a 1 year old son and are planning our second trip with him. We don't want a single hotel room and so are looking at renting an All Star Vacation home again and just can't justify the cost for the three of us. We do some math. We do some math again. We do some more math, and finally decide that owning DVC will cost the same as staying at POP Century (our resort of choice) except be way more awesome. Within one day of looking at resale contracts we put in an offer and it is accepted. While waiting for ROFR and closing we buy plane tickets for a January trip, we close in the beginning of December and through some miracle are able to book a full week at OKW just a few weeks later.
Coincidentally, our resale contract came with a ridiculous number of banked points, so we've "had" to schedule 4 trips this year to use them all!!! Best year ever!

We are very new to DVC (even though we already have our 3rd DVC trip booked). We purchased in October 2011. Our family (Me, DW, DS(8) and DD(6)) was at Wilderness Lodge for our kid's first trip to WDW in February 2011 (and my first trip in 25 years) and I stopped by one of the DVC kiosks in the hotel. I had no intention of purchasing a timeshare, but a couple of my co-workers have been DVC members for 10+ years each and they both have loved it. As I was looking through the brochure I say the drawings for Aulani, which was still being built at the time. While we were at Wilderness Lodge I went over to WLV one night and saw how nice it was. We never went to a DVC sales meeting, model, or anything. Fast forward to October and my DW called to tell me that Aulani was on Good Morning America and how beautiful it looked. That day I called the guide that both of my co-workers had used and we purchased our points and booked our first trip to Aulani that same day. Since then we have added on points and we are going to AKL in October and BLT in June. It has been so great and we are looking forward to many years with our kids.

I would of loved to buy in 1992, but financially I couldn't do it. I was 13 at the time and the paper route didn't pay nearly well enough.

We looked into DVC about 2007, but didn't buy until 2009. It was sort of my 30th b-day present to myself. I let DW choose between AKL and BLT, and the MK view was too much for her to pass up, so we own at BLT.

We have been owners for a little over 3 year and have taken 1 cruise (promo when buying), 2 AKL, 1 SSR, 1 THV, 1 BWV, and 1 OKW trip. We also have VGC book for November.

So many great memories from our trips, so glad we own!
