Ok a friend of mine and I are planning a trip to WDW before our cruise in 2011. There are 4 disney adults and 1 kid. We're trying to make this trip as cheap as possible lol! I suggested 2 rooms at POP, but that ended up being $615 (using 2010 prices for roughly the same dates) Port Orleans was around $1000 for 1 room sleeping 5 people. I know that's cramped, but it's just for sleeping. I don't spend any time in the rooms....if I want to relax I go to the pool :thumbsup2

The bathroom situation is what I'm concerned about, but that's more for her family part. DH and I are strictly wash and go, but she does have a teenage daughter.

I even looked at the DVC villas but that's WAY out of the price range. I don't mind sharing a room like this, but am I crazy? And where would the best place be to pull this off. I'm pretty sure a deluxe is out of the question. I'd be all about the CSR, but I don't think you can fit 5 ppl there (I just love that resort lol) So any suggestions??

Yes - assuming the child is 3 or older, the suggestions are:

2 rooms at a value (2 bathrooms).
Port Orleans Riverside - where you can have 5 in certain rooms.
A 1 BR at AKV or BLT - they sleep 5.
A Fort Wilderness Cabin.
A suite at the All-Stars (2 bathrooms there)
A room at one of the deluxes that sleep 5.

Those are the only choices for 5 in a room if the child is 3 or older.

I think your best bet would be to go with the two rooms at a value resort.

The only Moderate resort that sleeps 5 in one room is Port Orleans - Riverside, and that's only with a small child on the trundle bed. They won't even let you book the room with 4 adults and a child over 9.
They also only have double beds which I find a little restrictive.
The Moderate resorts do all have 2 sinks in the bathrooms in an area separate from the toilet and shower, so it might not be a problem, if you fit within the room constraints.

Well it's 3 adults (I know we'd have to pay a little more because of that) 16 y/o and an 8 y/o. I personally would be down for 2 bedrooms at a value, but that ups the price....not by much, but enough that she preferred the 5 in a room....

Coronado Springs sleeps 5 in some suites as well.

The 2 rooms at a value IS your cheapest option at the $615 you posted. You can't have 5 in 1 room at a value if that's what you're getting at, so I don't see that you have any other choice unless you stay off-site.

Well the $615 is per room, so for 2 rooms it would be $1200 roughly. For 1 room at a mod it was a little less than $1000. The music suite is around $1300. I just wanted to make sure we could squeeze into a mod if we had to. I'd rather save a little more, but it's up to her. I'm way more flexible.

Sorry misunderstood - I thought that was for both, so I was confused by the $1000 comparison. Now I see!

Does the $1000 include the extra adult charge - if not, it's probably a closer comparison than $1230 and $1000, but not that much (I think it's $15 a night for that 3rd adult).

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I WISH it was for both! I'd jump on that ;) It doesn't include the extra adult, so I'll have to keep that in mind. Factoring that in, it makes more sense to stay at the value. She really likes the slide at one of the PO resorts....maybe I can convince her a couple hundred isn't that much in the grand scheme of things and get 2 rooms there......yeah right.

A Standard view - wing- at CR is also an option. We stay there all the time with 5, and don't feel cramped at all, esp. it it's only a few nights. They are the cheapest rooms of all the deluxes, and cost is comparable to the mods, and much cheaper than suites or villas. You also get all the amenities of a deluxe resort :goodvibes. Good luck.

We stayed at POR with 5, but only two adults and 3 kids. I thought it was a bit cramped but it was my family and we could deal.

With someone else, I would opt for two rooms. I know that it is more, but if it were me, I would find the extra myself, just for peace of mind.

Good luck!
