Hi, Just got back Thursday (Feb 15th) from 5 nights in the World. This wont be one of those really funny, detailed trip reports that I love to read. Sorry, no talent! Me (Cindy, current cancer fighter, took two weeks off of chemo to go on this trip and was still pooped out most of the time) and my daughter (20 year-old Disney nut like me) had a wonderful time.
This was our 5th time at WDW and I will admit that I am maybe a little burned out.
Its hard to say for sure since the pain in my legs and feet is still lingering and it is so cold back here in Wisconsin that Im trying to figure out why I even live here. After a few days in the world, maybe some of you will admit you are tired of walking in a zigzag pattern, tired of those people who stand in the middle of the walkways looking at the map, yelling at the kids, and trying to figure out where in the world they are. I know, I was a rookie once too, but really, step to the side! We were at WDW last year, this same week, Valentines week. The crowds were thicker this year. Next time we go it will be in early February or January as my personal magic includes very low crowds and no cheering teenagers.
Sorry thats just me. It was super though not needing a park map and skipping all those rides we feel are not worthy of our time.
We stayed 3 nights at PO-Riverside. We even got a free upgrade to a river view room. Very peaceful and serene but not worth the extra money in my opinion. We transferred to All Star Music for the final 2 nights and had a much better experience there. More festive and Disney-like. Closer to the bus stop and the room was cleaner upon check-in than at POR. It didnt help that the food court was closed at POR. (Very inconvenient) Hooray for the value resorts. But, we had no choice this trip, we booked only 2 weeks in advance after making a last minute decision to go so this was what we had to do. Transferring between resorts was painless and handled perfectly by Disney.
We used Magical Express coming and going to the airports and were VERY impressed by them. What an excellent free service for Disney customers!
We received no magical wishes. Never even saw a wish team member. I guess our free room upgrade at POR was nice, but not a wish of mine.
We were able to ride every ride we wanted to and several of them twice. The longest wait time we actually did was supposed to be 40 minutes for Space Mtn. but it turned out to be about 25 minutes. We use fast pass for the good rides, but for some reason fast pass was closed at the time we were there. Soarn had wait times of 75 minutes! No way would I wait that long for any ride. We did use fast pass for it and were able to get on the ride in about 15 minutes. The new Nemo ride was well done.
FYI, saw heelies/wheelies whatever - they are EVERYWHERE. Ban? What ban? Saw one kid take a heck of a spill right on his face and another on his knees. The side walks are not even all over the world. None of the heelie kids where endangering anyone but themselves.
Vent alert
Why is it that we (humans) stand in line so nicely for a ride but when it comes time for the bus ride back to the resort we turn into something other than humans? There is no first come first serve rules at a bus stop. There are no rules or courtesy at all. Being that I wear a scarf to cover my bald head, I thought maybe someone would offer me a seat. I guess I dont look sick enough. Plus if I could handle a day in the park, I guess I could handle standing up to ride the bus. But when I saw a lady with a one-year old in her arms (screaming) standing up, its just too much. Here, let me, the cancer lady give you my seat on the bus, while the able-bodied, but tired, adults and teens sit down. Such is life in the World. All-in-all it was a very nice trip and Im glad my daughter and I were able to do it.
