Today Demetri and I went to see a show we'd been waiting for awhile!

The Imagination Movers Live!


I'd purchased the tickets before the holidays and we had pretty good seats, about twenty rows back. Of course the standard merchandise was on sale and Demetri got a shirt of his favorite from the show - Warehouse Mouse.

A very cool surprise for us was that Choo Choo Soul was the opening act! We love Genevieve and DC!

They sang and danced to favorites and we were happy to hear that new episodes were coming out soon.


Then, it was time to introduce the stars of the show. Demetri could name each of them from their silhouette.

Smitty....

Rich....

Nina.....

Warehouse Mouse.....

(I hadn't seen this guy before.... ) Andy the Monster....

More fun singing and dancing and they came out into the audience interacting with kids a lot.

Absolutely great and we had a fabulous time. Definately recommend seeing them if they come to your area.

Yeah, we're expecting the crowds but it'll be OK. If we need to take a break we can. Imagination Movers was awesome. I had to go back to the theatre about a half hour after the show (I'd dropped my wallet and they called me back to get it ) and they were still there meeting with kids for pictures and autographs. Love them!

Tonight was movie night again for us. Since I'm doing all the food and activity prep, I'm also choosing the movies and I'd decided this past weekend to do......

The Sword in the Stone


I wanted the whole medieval fun for the night and I knew the kids would love seeing the movie. Another trip up to the dollar store and a stop over at the party store and I was set. I was really looking forward to it too once I had everything all planned out and we had a blast!


Utilizing our Pop Century tablecloth again for the crafts we'd be doing, here was the setting.

Using a gothic looking candlestick holder as my centrepiece, I put a little bit of playdough in the bottom and it held up the glow in the dark Wizard Wand. I found a Wizard hat for Demetri to wear and a Princess hat for Ariana, and their activity while I put dinner together was to glue star and flower jewels onto goblets.

They had a ton of fun with that and Demetri wants to put more on tomorrow. They used the goblets with dinner which they loved.


Speaking of dinner.....

I had a lot of fun putting this together. Quite simple really, the fun was more so in the name cards I printed up and were presented with each dish. I'd downloaded a medieval font for my computer and printed them out at work.

Merlin's Meatballs each served with their own sword to allow dipping in a plum sauce.

Wart's Squire Chicken Balls also served with individual swords for dipping in a sweet and sour sauce.

Archimedes' Caesar Salad

Medieval Mushrooms (originally I had these as Magic Mushrooms )

King Arthur's Royal Baguette

Round Table Brownies for dessert and munching on through the movie.


It was a great success and everyone was enjoying the feast. Time for the movie and the kids snuggled in still wearing their hats.....

We laughed at our favorite lines and sang the familiar songs.... "that's what makes the world go round....." and Demetri loved the magic duel between Merlin and Madame Mim. Then it was time to take another link down.

This was pretty simple to do and the kids had a lot of fun with it. Another week closer!!!

Yes, I can see how you wouldn't have heard of them. They had touches of things in the show for the parents too... snippets of Van Halen and Kiss songs.

I've gotten most of my ideas from the family night thread and it's been fun tweaking them for us.

Thanks! Isn't it fun to go back and watch movies you haven't seen in a while? Ariana has been asking quite a bit for a particular movie that I think will be our choice for next week. It gives me a few choices for activities that I'm excited to see if they'll work.

Hey Angie! I love that our plans are ambitious. There is so much we want to do, but we're veterans at this and know how it can go sometimes so no worries if what we end up doing is completely different than what we planned. We know we'll be back!

The Imagination Movers were awesome. Demetri wore his souvenier shirt to school the next day and his classmates LOVED it!

Oh watch the Sword and the Stone with the boys - it's cute. Have once a month movie nights, then once a week as you get closer. You'll love planning them, there's tons of stuff out there to give you ideas and it makes your trip come faster!

Ya I know it's a crappy picture but it was my cell phone in a theatre

Hop is a very cute movie and if you get the chance go see it!

So there was no craft tonight and dinner consisted of popcorn, pop, Iced tea and chocolate!!!!

The girls had a great time and that is all that matters. I know it's not s Disney movie but while we were there we saw lots of posters for POTC!!!! and they showed a preview for the new Pooh movie that I can't wait to see

I'd love to see this movie. I'll admit when I first heard of it my knee jerk reaction was.... really? But the commercials make me laugh and we love Penny from Big Bang Theory. The pooped out jelly beans disturb me a bit they're my fav but I'll always think of that now.
