I've already got Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus tickets. Can I exchange them for Magic Your Way tickets? Can I get more days on my Magic Your Way ticket?
I'm going to break this down into sections, because there's a few different types of tickets that you may be looking to upgrade.
.) Any ticket that you upgrade to must, at a minimum, have the exact same number of days and the same option configuration. That means if you want more days, or to add more options, you may. But you can't take away any options. For example: If you have an unused 4 day Park Hopper Pass, the bare minimum you would be REQUIRED to get would be a 4 day base with park-hopping and non-expiration. If you wanted to get more days, or get the magic plus pack option, you could add those. If you have a 5 day Park Hopper Plus Pass, at a bare minimum, you would be required to upgrade to a 5 day base, with premium and non-expiration options. You could add more days if you wanted to. This applies to ALL the transactions I'll describe below.
.) In all transactions: If your Magic Your Way ticket costs more, you obviously will have to pay the difference. If your Magic Your Way ticket costs LESS, you will LOSE the difference. Disney won't give you the difference back!
.) In all transactions: If your admission is more than a year old, you'd be best advised to use it as is. It is worth more as admission than it the credit you would receive for it. When in doubt, ask the Guest Relations cast member to check the monetary value of the ticket FIRST. Don't simply ask to upgrade. Once the upgrade process begins, it has to be completed. So - you'd be stuck with whatever the value of the pass is whether you like it or not.
.) UPGRADING: If you are within 7 days of the FIRST time you used your ticket, or your ticket is completely unused, you may upgrade it. You will receive full credit for Disney's GATE price of the pass. This does, now, include broker passes. (Hotwire, Ticketmania...) From there, you may then purchase admission, but remember that you'll have to follow the first two guidelines.
.) DOLLAR CREDITS: If your ticket has been used, and it's been MORE than 7 days since your past use, you can get a pro-rated dollar credit for the remaining admission. Once again, the pro-rated credit you receive is base on Disney's GATE price of the pass. This does, now, include broker passes. (Hotwire, Ticketmania...) That dollar credit is then applied toward new admission. The NEW admission must still follow the first two guidelines.
.) Tickets with ONLY plus options left (meaning you've used up all your major park days) can't be upgraded. Plus admissions never have had, nor do they have any value now in terms of upgrading.
.) Magic Your Way tickets that were purchased as part of a package CAN be upgraded. All the above rules apply. The upgrades, however, MUST be processed at the RESORTS. Vacation planners and Guest Relations can't do anything with package tickets because they are still tied to your resort stay, and thus your room key.
.) CONVENTION TICKETS: NOTHING can be done with convention tickets. You may not upgrade them, nor can you receive a dollar credit for them. They must be used as is.
