This trip we opted not to buy the dining plan. I didn't want to feel obligated to have a sit down meal if I wasn't in the mood, or if our touring wasn't working for it. Also i like to share counter service meals and eat more snacks :thumbsup2 I'm not sure if we ended up paying more, but I liked the freedom.

WHO:
me (35)
DH (36)
DS (7)
My parents
My sister (30)

1) Cape May clam bake: We stayed at BCV so an ADR here on our arrival night seemed like a great start to our vaca. This was my sister's 30th birthday. We were seated right away and our waitress was OK. The buffet was well organized and flowed well. The selections were as expected. We all agreed the food was OK, not great. It was pretty typical buffet quality food. I should mention we are from New England so we have access to great seafood all of the time. My son loved the crab legs. If I wasn't staying at BC I'm not sure if I would travel just to eat here again.

2) Le Cellier: awesome as always! Yes, it costs a small fortune but every morsel was delicious. Even my mom who isn't a huge steak fan loved her meal. My son loved the pretzel bread and his chocolate mouse. This is a must do for our next trip as well. If I was on the dining plan I wouldn't use 2 dining credits though.

3) Ohana character breakfast: This was a first for us. I wanted a character meal that wasn't crazy loud and caotic. This totally fit that need. It was very calm. We had a 7:50 ADR and we were sat right away. Characters started coming within 2 minutes. We saw Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto all within the first 20 minutes of being there. Our food was delivered right away so we ate as the characters came by. the interactions were very quick...basically stop, sign autograph, pose for a pic and on their way. i was hoping stitch would do some antics at least. We were out of there within 40 minutes of arriving. Some people may feel rushed but for us it was a relief to just get on with our day. I hate wasting hours in restaurants. The food was good-eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, biscuits and some pastry. Nothing amazing but adequate. I would recommend this as a good character meal for those wanting something a bit calmer.

4) Mama Melrose: Awful from the minute we walked in the door. We had a 3:45 "dinner" ADR with fantasmic package. I should say that fantasmic was the only reason we even went to this restaurant. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated...even though the restaurant was almost empty :confused3. Our waiter seemed grumpy. he explained that we could get an appitizer, entree, and dessert for the fantasmic package. I questioned this because I didn't think apps were included. He assured me they were. He left without taking drink orders. We had to wait a bit for him to come back. Then things went quickly. our drinks and apps came right out. Everyone liked their apps...salad, soup, and caprese. Then we waited...and waited...and waited. At 4:55 the waited came to our table and jovily said "Would you like to hear the news?....your food was accidentally given to another table. The good news is the kitchen is rushing your order through so yours will be out soon." We were very understanding and kinda shrugged it off. He brought us a pass to ride any ride in the park as a fastpass. We decided to use it for toy story before we went to Fantasmic. Well that plan didn't work out because our food didn't get to our table until 5:30!!! My sister ordered pasta with meatballs. As she is cutting her food she sees that the entire bottom of her dish is a green sauce. I flagged the waiter over and ask what it was. he says "That is pesto! Why do you have pesto?" At this point i am no longer patient. i tell him this is ridiculous! We have been here for close to 2 hours. He brings out another meal. I ask him to bring our desserts to go, along with the bill. We all shovel our meals in to get to the 6:30 fantasmic show. My chicken parm was so dry and just plain gross. i think it was microwaved. We are finished...and still waiting for the dessert and bill. I flagged him AGAIN. He brings a bag with desserts...but my sons cupcake lid was not on so it gets all over everything :mic: He hands us 2 bills (we asked him to split it). Each bill is for like $39. We call him over and ask whats going on. He explained thats the charge after the dining plan. We tell him we do not have a dining plan and he argues with me that yes, I do. He is also telling me my name was Crystal. I finally tell my husband to just scan his magic band and pay $39. Im not arguing with this fool. It should have been over $100. He takes back the bills and tried to fix them. he had put them through someone else's dining plan!! He comes out and tells us the ,machine isn't able to connect our bands but to go and he will take care of it later on by calling our hotel. Whatever! We later see that we were only charged $39. It makes me feel a bit better since my meal was GROSS. We had to sprint across the park to make it to fantasmic. NEVER again will we eat here.

continued later...

Boatrights at Port Orleans Riverside: We have eaten here before and had a great experience. We made a last minute ADR for 7:45 dinner. Since bus service between resorts is such a hassle we took a cab from BCV. It cost $12 plus tip and was less than 10 minutes. We were seated right on time. Our waitress, named Wendy, was very sweet. We were giving her a run for her money all night. She just kept laughing at us. She said "Oh, its nice to have people who are....different." :rotfl2: That's us alright! We started with the cornbread which is pretty good. They have sweet tea which is just awesome!! Most of us ordered the prime rib. It was delicious! It came with horseradish mashed potatoes that were soo good. It was way too much food though. For dessert I had the creme brulee...it was good but not as good as Le Cellier's. Overall this meal was great-the food, the service, the atmosphere were all great. I think this is a hidden jem! We will be back. :thumbsup2

Be Our Guest Lunch: We were fortunate to get a fast pass lunch time. We walked right in to place our order. I won't go into the decor since most reviews have already covered that. Ordering was a bit stressful with the computer kiosks. My son wanted plain pasta with no sauce. It was tricky to figure out how to order that. After ordering we went and found a table in the big room. Our food was delivered in about 10 minutes. It was nice to not have to carry a tray through the crowd. This meal was a step above most counter service just for that aspect alone. I thought the food was good, nothing special. i had the French Onion Soup and split the ham/cheese sandwich. They were fine. i would come back just for the convenience of being served. I wish they had a bigger/better menu though. We ended up cancelling our dinner ADR here. We figured we saw the inside and that was enough. The dinner menu was just too restricted for me to pay all that money.

Via Napoli Dinner: We had to wait past our ADR time for our entire party to show up, once we were all there we were sat right away on the little side room to the right. Our assistant waiter (I guess thats what he was) barely spoke english. He was telling us about the different types of water they have imported from Italy (I think) and then asked what did we want. I specifically asked "Is it free?" He didn't really answer but acted confused and again asked which kind did we want. My father then asked him if it was free. He again didn't really answer :confused3. At this point its just confusing so I tell everyone to stop talking and I clearly ask "Is this water free, or do we pay for it?" He starts talking about the dining plan which I have to remind him we do not have. Then he quickly explains we can get the special water but we have to pay for it. lol No thanks! Im not sure if it was a language barrier or if he was being sneaky. Now that our drink orders have been placed (ice tea or Coke all around) we peak at the menu. I know I want to save room for dessert! Our main waiter comes over and is very friendly. He brings us a teeny tiny basket of very hard, not so tasty bread and an oil for dipping. We aren't impressed. We normally are a bread loving family but this was just blah. DH and I order the Caprissiossa pizza while my parents and sister order a cheese pizza. DS orders the kids mozzarella bites. While we wait for our meals I bring DS over to see the three ovens. I couldn't believe how loud the main room was. Our small room was extremely loud but the big room was much worse. Our 2 pizza's come out and we quickly realize the small round time were are at really isn't big enough for 2 pizza's. Oh well! we are almost finished with our pizza before DS's mozzarella bites come out. The service here was kinda odd...not "bad" but just didn't really flow right. I think part of the issue was having 2 waiters. Anyways, the pizza was good. It was not great. It wasn't any better than I could order at Papa Ginos in my opinion. Both pizzas had burn marks on the bottom from the wood fire. The mozzarella bites were very good though. We saved room for dessert and got 2 orders of zeppoli's. OMG these were just awesome. best dessert of the trip. I wish they sold these as a quick service snack. Overall I thought this experience was just OK. I think I had too high expectations. This was a very popular ADR so I was looking forward to trying it. I can now say that I tried it but I probably wouldn't come back again. There are way too many option nearby that i would rather go for.

La Cantina Mexico counter service: this was a new one for us. My son loves tacos so I thought it would be a good option. We get in line and find that they dont have tacos on the kids meals. We order him the empanadas which he really likes. DH and I split the nachos which are excellent. Overall i thought this place was really good. I will definitely come back for a quick lunch.

Lotus Blossum Cafe China counter service-I just ordered the kids sweet and sour chicken over white rice. It was just OK. I think it was over priced for what little you got seeing that rice is dirt cheap. I wouldn't order this again.

Yorkshire UK counter service: I don't eat fish but DH and DS loved their fish and chips from here. DH thinks its the best deal in all of world showcase.
