5/31/11 -- Chilling on the Wonder

We're all getting really excited! The packing has begun - we're all struggling trying to decide what to take and what to leave home - it's so different packing for cooler weather ;) I've read that 'layers' are the key - so I'm attempting that, but warmer clothes take up more space in the suitcase :rotfl2:

And for dining I have dresses for 4 of the dinners and a skirt for the others, I hope they're not too dressy, but I never have the opportunity to dress up so I'm going to make the best of this! Haha

How's everyone else making out packing? I'm off tomorrow, work the next 7 days and then it's Vacation time! :cheer2: We leave on Saturday the 28th, fly to Vancouver on the 29th, it can't come soon enough!

Packing? What is this packing thing you speak of? LOL...I've tried so many times...but something tells me this is going to be a last minute deal. :scared1: Hope I don't forget anything! :thumbsup2

Here's the final list! We'll update cabin numbers at the meet in the atrium. I will also keep an updated list in my fish extender. I'm in cabin 2614. If anybody gets changed and doesn't make it to the meet, come change it on my list ASAP. :)

Arg73 – 2 adults, 2 kids 10 and 13, another cabin of friends with 2 adults, 2 kids 10 and 13

Need cabin number for arg73

Thanks for keeping this all put together

Has anyone PM'd Arg73 to see if they are still sailing? My kids gifts are gender specific but will need to pack some generic gifts if they don't check in soon.

We are just about counting the minutes till we leave....which is only 13,311 minutes away!

Looking forward to so much. Hope everyone is able to do a quick group meet Tuesday at 3:45, Deck 3 atrium, outside of Triton's!

Anyone looking for something to do in Vancouver, Groupon has One-Day Hop-On, Hop-off Tour from Big Bus for $15

Packing? Right. That little thing I'm going to have to do after I get back from a super-important business trip.... less than 72 hours before we leave for Vancouver (we're going a few days early).

Yikes! What was I thinking with this scheduling?!

Two weeks from right now we'll all be on the ship sailing away from Vancouver! How exciting! :woohoo:

I realized I didn't introduce our names in my other posts - my name's Amanda, my friend's Bobby and my mother and father are Paul and Verna.

We fly into Vancouver on the 29th... I did pull out the luggage when I cleaned out my closet this past weekend; but no official packing yet... Tonight I plan to pick up some things I still need to purchase for the trip and I hope to officially start packing this coming weekend..:thumbsup2

Any idea what the normal price is? We were looking for bus tour to do in after oon when we take Amtrak in from Seattle on the 29th.

I'm excited bc now we're leaving 5/28 instead of 5/29. We really wanted the Saturday (5/28) departure, but we weren't able to get it on frequent flyer miles. But then Delta changed our Sunday flight so that we would only have a 30 minute layover (and we have an infant!). I was able to get them to move us to Saturday with no change fees!

Falls Church, my grandparents used to live there and my Dad graduated from Jeb Stewart!

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) :) live in Nashville have a trip to Chicago Mon and Tues, Birmingham AL Wed and a 6:10 AM flight to Seattle on Friday. I like to think of it as being adventurous. :goodvibes

Normal price is $38/adult or a family pack - 2 adults/2kids for $100. I just bought this on groupon, for DH, DD, DS, my parents and myself. $90 for the 6 of us on groupon. Would have been $176 normal price. We did the hop-on hop off bus in Sydney and had a blast. The ticket is good for 24 hours and you can get on and off as much as you want. When you get off of the bus, you can stay as long you want. Most of time the buses run every 15-20 minutes. I'm so glad I didn't buy these about 3 weeks ago when i started to pre-purchase them.

We are leaving the 28th too! Leave from Raleigh Durham. WooHoo! So ready.

I am a plus size lady, and there aren't a lot of options in my hometown, so I shop pretty much in one store, and am very good friends with the owner. I was in there today and she asked me had I packed for either trip and I just looked at her and laughed.

(I have a business trip with meetings in Orlando. So, I had this bright idea that since my hotel was paid for for Friday-Monday, my flight was paid for and I had enough airline points to pay for DH, DD, DS, we'd make a quick Disney trip. Was I crazy??? Two trips in two weekends. Not good planning on my part, but hey they didn't consult my vacation plans before they planned these meetings. LOL.)

Anyway, she asked me if I had made a packing list, of course which I laughed at. :rotfl2: I almost think she was serious when she asked me if she needed to come pack for me so that I was "dressed appropriate". So, the plan is that Wednesday night, I'll pack DS, Thursday night, I'll pack DD, and Friday, I'll do myself. DH is on his own. :lmao:

Oh, did I mention, I'm not finished with FE gifts... And, since I volunteered my mom for the FE participation, and she doesn't have a lot of spare time, I agreed to do her FE gifts... Hadn't done those either. Oh well... It will be done. I work good under pressure. :thumbsup2

It sounded like a good deal to me as we didn't have any real plans in place yet. Looks like we may be seeing a few fellow cruisers along the way...maybe.

Picked up my cruise docs from TA today. Excitement is starting to build should start to pack our luggage. No fun in doing it now pack at the last minute more thrilling.

We did the Groupon too. And it says you can pay Big Bus $5 to turn it into a two-day pass, so we may do that. We've got Sunday and Monday to sightsee, and we aren't going to want to push ourselves too hard, with the baby.

We've started to pack! I've got my list together (sooooo long) and have started gathering things. I expect to get a lot done today, with my mom coming over to watch DD.

The groupon for the hop-on bus, does anyone know how to redeem. Do we have to go the address listed on coupon or can we just redeem on any bus. Does anyone have a clue.

I went to the Groupon discussion and found the following:

Amanda W. commented 11 hours and 44 minutes ago

@ Sharon – this is an open ended ticket you can use it at any date, there are no reservations

@ comment – the ticket must be redeemed in gastown however drivers are very understanding of guests and will allow them to take the bus to gastown from any stop and let them get off in gastown to redeem their tickets.

@ Natalia – every groupon customer is given the option of upgrading at the time of redemption. If you woutld like to upgrade please do in gastown.

Amanda is the contact for the Big Bus. I've also read that to upgrade to a 2 day pass is $5.00 and you do that at Gastown when you redeem your voucher.

Here is the route it takes along with a list of the stops: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...27728&spn=0.026875,0.054932&z=14&source=embed

I'm glad I bought it. Sounds like a fun day.

Linda

I am going to "assume" you bring your voucher to the bus - at any stop you choose - and proceed with the tour. Since these HOHO busses are known for offering tickets at every stop they make, I don't see that they would expect you to go to a central office.

I need to go buy tickets as the offer is only good for another 14 hours (it's noon CDT now on Thursday).

We are just as crazy heading to Hollywood Studios tomorrow for the Star Wars weekend since we I'll miss it otherwise due to cruise and staying around in Vancouver/Seattle extra. It should be a nice weekend (although crowded!)

Raleigh...home of the Wolfpack!!! Yeah!
