Amanda,

Are you sure you'll be able to get tickets? If you can, I say GO!!! I don't think it matters if you've been to 5 concerts in your life or 500. If your heart truly wants to go, you should do it.

OK yall..I have adilemma and could use your input...

I know you are probably sick of hearing about the Madonna concert...but here goes.
I have always loved Madonna! Always! I had never seen her, or been to any concerts at all until I was 17. My 1st concert was at 17, I saw Bryan Adams. I have since been to a Vertical Horizon, Hilary Duff (with DD last year),Creed (twice) and the last 2 Madonna concerts.
I am about to be 31 years old. Those are the only concerts I have ever been to in my whole life. I love music.
The Madonna concerts were worth every single penny! EVERY Single penny! When the new Madonna tour was announced, my only concern that was she would play in ATL while we were on the ship. WRONG she is not playing ATL at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sooooooooo upset with her about that (silly I know) I am also upset about the ticket prices. SHe just keeps going higher and higher (much like DCL). My head says do not go. Too much money for one night of entertainemnt. Then my heart gets jinvolved and says gogogogogogogo! I have actually looked at the dates, and thought of possible shows I could attend.
There is Phoenix on June 8th. Chicago on June 18th, Atlantic City on July 18th and NYC on July 3rd. THere is also Miami, but I am not so sure of it or NYC actually.
There is no one that loves Madonaa as much as I do(as far as my friends go). They would not be willing to pay for a ticket plus airfare and hotel yadda yadda.....I will be solo. All in all it will end up costing me about $1000 for ticket/air and travel expense. I want to do it sooooooooo bad! But the grown up in me says heck no!!! It doesnt help that DH says, "if it will make you happy, go"
I am worried about traveling to these major cities alone. I kinda want to do ATL City because the venue is so small. It only holds 22000 people....

I am so torn..if you are still with me thank you....WWYD?+

I probably can count the number of concerts I've been to on both hands...starting at about age 17...

But, speaking as someone who used her frequent flyer miles to fly back up to Chicago (hometown) to attend a Captain and Tennille concert in a very small venue (about 500) , her absolute obsession since childhood, dragging her childhood best friends with her, sitting 6th row, and doing the "wait by the stage door to get their autographs" routine. Then promptly bursting into tears when she met them - I think my answer is obvious - GO FOR IT!!!

Someone had asked about Margaritaville in Orlando... its a fun place... overpriced, but so is any other theme restauarant... like Rainforest Cafe (that place gives me a headache.) We go to M'ville once in awhile... its part of Universal Citywalk, which is a great place to sit and people watch... (especially as a local watching the tourists... its a natural pasttime down here!!!) Grab a margarita, sit in one of the big rockers out front, and watch the people go by...

Ever been to Cheeseburger in Paradise? We have one near us. We are always surprised when the bill comes and it's so low. We all eat a full meal and get Cokes....and it's usually in the $35 range. Most other places we go are at least $42 for the same amount of food. Maybe it's because they are one of the few places that isn't charging $2.50 or more for a pop!!!!

Karen, it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to get them replaced. It should be real easy if you have the AP #'s. If not, it might require a few extra moments on Guest Services' part, but they should be able to re-issue them on the spot! Have fun!! (wish I was going too!!!)

Yeah, I just wouldn't say "we threw them out because we didn't think we'd be back." :lmao:

Mary, How long a drive from PC to JB's? What time is everyone planning to meet at JB's? If we don't make it there, we'll try to come over to the Radisson later that evening to see if y'all are partying at the pool!! :woohoo:

Is anyone still planning breakfast at Grills? (I hope I got the name right :confused3 ) What time? Thanks!

We're still planning breakfast - probably about two weeks out - we can try for an agreement on time, get a count and give Grills a heads-up we're coming...

PS Karen..nope their posts dont count! ;)

I think the teen/tween thread count SHOULD be added to ours....
after all, if they didn't have a separate thread, they'd be on OUR thread and think of how many things we couldn't talk about!!!! :lmao:

Cool a U TOP shared with Amanda and all of the teens/tweens

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Then again, I hardly do anything that doesn't involve the "family" in one way or another, so for me to go and do something that expensive, that far away, and that "unneccesary" would just cause me to feel guilty the entire time. Also, I don't know that I'd like going to a concert without a "friend." Something about being smashed between two strangers and not having anyone to lean over and make a comment to.

That's MHO....for what it's worth. Then again, I don't lead an incredibly exciting life. :)

I just finished Patricia Cornwell's "Predator" the latest in the Kay Scarpetta series. I was very disppointed with it. That reminds me, are we still going to have a book excahnge?

ditto on Predator - I tend to be that way with series - they get pretty stale the longer they go on...

Just read the latest J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts "...In Death" book - same thing too... I liked her early books before she cross marketed as Nora Roberts...

I'm up for trading books if anyone else is - I plan on hitting the library volunteer book store and stocking up on 50 cent paperbacks...

I have a number of paperbacks if anyone is interested in Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, David Baldacci or Robert Ludlom....

The only author I haven't read out of that list is Dan Brown - I'm not real thrilled with the " Ludlom with..." books with the various authors finishing out his outlines...My favorite of his is still the Borne Trilogy, which I read first out of all of his books...

About the only thing I don't like - or have a hard time getting into - is Science Fiction...

Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum are usually my vacation choices when I have to buy books instead of bring library books, for fear of losing them - I can't finish them in an hour...so, I bring fewer and spend less on books

A man calls home to his wife and says, "Honey I have been asked to go
fishing at a big lake up in Canada with my boss and several of his
friends. We'll be gone for a week. This is a good opportunity for me to
get that promotion I've been wanting so would you please pack me enough
clothes for a week and set out my rod and tackle box. We're leaving
from the office and I will swing by the house to pick my things up. Oh!
Please pack my new blue silk pajamas."

The wife thinks this sounds a little fishy but being a good wife she does exactly what her husband asked. The following weekend he comes home a little tired but otherwise looking good.

The wife welcomes him home and asks if he caught many fish? He says, "Yes! Lot's of Walleye, some Bluegill, and a few Pike. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do?"

The wife replies "I did....they were in your tackle box."

Women will ALWAYS outsmart men...

yes there are still tickets on ticketmaste, and if not there are some decent tickets on Ebay.....I have even narrowed it down to what section I want to sit at in ATL city

DH called - he's on his way home and done with classes!!! I think I'm more excited than he is...of course, he's got his final papers to write and hand in, so he's not totally done... Which may be tempering his enthusiasm...

That is soooo funny. For the very 1st tour that I saw her, back in 2001, I actually did cry when she first came out on stage! Sad huh!

Thanks Karen. I dont think I would feel guilty. Not about going by myself. Becasue trust me, I could use some alone time. I never get it! I would feel guilty about spending that much money though. However, I am afraid I will regret not going. Also, the whole friend thing is adding to my fear. If I had a friend that said lets go, I would be all over it.

Monica,
Did you find that Predator was very,,,,,,hmmmm whats the word........mechanically descriptive??? In so far as the guns/bikes etc etc etc? It was so different from the way that the early Scarpetta books were written, it almost felt like a different author. I skimmed over A lot of the book, because the storyline just wasnt there for me?

I saw Brian Adams too - great concert he was with the Hooters...John brown-nosed us from behind the sound board to 16th row - that was when we were still dating - last year we were behind the sound board for Chicago - and being the theatre sound geek he now is, proceeded to brown-nose the sound guys... ahh, what and difference between dating a marriage...

I usually like her books because of the forensic details, as well as the relationship development between the other characters, but there was not much of that at all...
