If all goes smoothly though....no one will have to know you were an accomplice.

My Mom's all-time favorite dessert is bread pudding. I honestly have never tried it. Just the name has always sounded icky to me. Maybe if they have it on the cruise, I'll try it. Oh yeah, that's just what I need...another "favorite" dessert! :guilty:
Ooohh, I love bread pudding. I've only made it once, since I'm the only one that really likes it. Don't want to have a whole serving pan full of it sitting around my house.

Here are 2 Bread Pudding Recipes

Cherry and White Choclate Bread Pudding

Ingredients needed:
  • 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus 2 tablespoons, melted

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cups 1/2-inch cubes day-old bread <
  • 6 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup dried cherries
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter a 10 x 14-inch baking dish with the room-temperature butter.

Whisk the eggs in a large bowl. Whisk in the cream, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Add the bread, chocolate, and dried cherries and stir well, then mix in the melted butter. Pour into the prepared dish.

Bake until firm when pressed in the center, about 1 hour. Cool on a wire rack until just warm, about 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Banana Chocolate Bread Pudding

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled <
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces
  • 6 cups 1/2-inch-diced day-old bread (such as French baguette, Italian loaf or brioche)
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • About 2 cups sweetened whipped cream, for serving
  • Confectioners' sugar, for sprinkling

Hi folks -- catching up at lunch.

1. Stacey - s I understand, you need GaRRy, or Virgil or BOTH with you when you practice your cooking skills, unless BOND, James BOND is there to whisk you out of the County......

2. Ray - have you ever thought of publishing a cookbook, judging by the response on this thread, you would be a budding success.

3. Mary - (and others) - what do you mean the clothes are set aside,,,golly gee.....what fun is that -- whatever happened to the midnight need to wash the (insert name of garment) so that it could travel on vacation?????

4. Door Magnets - I have resolved that I will not win the prize...not sure I will do much different from the November cruise.

5. Dessert buffet - never have made it to the event....a nap sounds like a good idea....But if they put pickles, olives, chicken wings and pretzels on it, I would be there in a flash.....

6. Laundry - yes please - do mine, do mine.

7. Other chores...we now have 2 replacement citrus trees for the one trees the hurricane took down....It will be fun to watch them grow again :cloud9: and I have a seedling of the old tree....It will never be more than a potted plant.

8. Diving on Saturday was tiring, the current was strong and it was hard for me to reach the wreck...and don't blink or you will miss what you were looking at....Still, am glad that I took the plunge. Need more trips, and more experience.

9. The divers that died were 35 and 37...very sad....they were only in 45 feet of water - one had no BC???? They were tangled in their dive rope???? It appeared that one of the regulators malfunctioned and the boat was taking on water???

A very hectic 2 weeks before me....I shall need to :stir: :stir: :stir: a bit to keep my count up.....who said 50,000 before we leave Port?

Wait, we are not leaving port, we are taking it with us....

Well There are so many cookbooks out there now not sure if it would be worth it, and most of my recipes are not original...I don't want people to think I make these things up, most of them I have found over the years in magazines, internet, and cookbooks, etc

Maybe I can come up with a DIS Cruisers Double Scoop Cookbook, there are others on this board with recipes also, we could publish it and sell it on the boat, we would all profit :thumbsup2 :)
