Good morning all. I noticed something and I guess Amanda is the one that can fix it. The title of our thread needs to be changed - 6 weeks instead of 7 now. Closer and closer.

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend. Now it's back to reality and work and all that fun stuff. I have laundry calling my name. Yck!! Not too fond of the laundry. Monday, Monday....

Mark and I could fix it but since it is Amanda's post we'll let her do it. :)

I got 6 loads of laundry done yesterday. Part of the joy of not having family come over for Easter. I still have a couple of loads to finish today. DS doesn't go back to school until tomorrow. The high today is only going to be in the 60's and cloudy after having 80's and sunny for the last week. He'll be bored, but DH has one more vacation day today. Maybe I can send them off for some quality father/son time :thumbsup2 .

A U-TOP with Maria and laundry...

Real simple...enjoy

Shhh... you're not supposed to TELL anyone how simple it is!!! They're supposed to think that you slaved over it...

(Although it would go REALLY great with the bottle of Banfi that's still in the fridge... thanks to Michigan's misfortune)

Oh, I actually discovered him thru this pic that was passed around message boards.

Then I searched out the backstory. Had a pet rabbit myself when I was a kid. And he was just about as patient as this one.
I laughed out loud at this! Very funny!! :lmao: :lmao:

since we're talking about rabbits;

A woman opened her refrigerator and found a large white rabbit asleep
inside. "Why are you in my refrigerator?" she asked. The rabbit
replied, "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?"

I switched out our winter and summer clothes; that's the reason that it's only going to be in the 60's today. Luckily DS still fits in all of his clothes from last year; just 2 shorts and a shirt that we put in the 'too small' box. I looked and looked for his 'tropical' shirts thinking that I had put them in the spare room closet; looked everywhere for them. DH and I started getting the winter stuff out of his closet and found them on the back of the closet floor. GRRR!

DD went back home yesterday, so I've got the suitcases laid out on the spare bed again. I've started packing the little stuff, like our medicine bag and swimsuits. got DH's suit out for him to try on and have my formal/semi-formal clothes hanging on the door. DS needs some dress shoes or may show up wearing his black crocs on formal night. Some of my summer clothes had to go in the 'too small' box, also. We're not going to pack any t-shirts, but are just going to buy some. We'll be at Sea World, DTD and will probably hit Ron Jons before the cruise. I'm hoping that somewhere between DTD and Ron Jons we'll be able to find some pirate-themed shirts.

I doubt I will be making it for anyone here, so we can still tell others I make it for how difficult it is, it probably would go very well with the Banfi.....maybe we will drink it sometime this weekend???? Once you feel better and are not chugging NyQuil....

No burst-posting for me this morning...it's payday, and I think some guys will be looking for me.

Ohminnie....the Bananas Foster at Rainforest Cafe are definitely not the greatest, but they certainly will do in a pinch! Other than New Orleans, particularly Brennan's..the only place that I've had truly great Bananas Foster is at a restaurant near my parent's, top of a hotel, overlooking the lovely Missouri river. Of all places, go figure.

I don't have ALL of my stuff ready to pack....we're wearing summer clothes here already. I just have the formal, semi-formal, Palo, etc...clothes hanging on a rack. We've got Jared's dressy stuff ready, and the girls have picked what they want to wear for formal and semi-formal. Pirate stuff is ready, too.

I HAVE to start getting things ready early. Part of that OCD thing. Can't help it, so pay no attention to me.
And...my parents may be coming down to visit before the cruise, so I need to have a bunch of the little stuff done so I can spend time with them.

I think we have 5 door signs. But that's just because I liked so many I couldn't decide. I may put some on the inside of the door and switch them out, like Ohminnie did.

I do a lot of that type of thing late at night....it relaxes me so that I can fall asleep. The bad part of doing it late at night is that if something doesn't go well, I'm just stubborn (OCD) enough to stay up til all hours fixing it. :sad2:

Today is my morning for "Breakfast with Lisa" so it's down to the beach for breakfast at the pier watching the sunrise. It's one of my favorite breakfast places. Foods okay, but the setting is perfect. :sunny:

Shut UP. Said in a loving, Princess Diaries type of way.........

Not that I've ever made it, but I don't think Bananas Foster is that hard to make. I've had friends & my MIL make it for dessert. If anyone wants an "authentic" recipe, I can peruse my cookbooks at home. I like it but it's not one of my favorite LA desserts. That would have to be bread pudding!!!

Ok ... did a quick search ... here's the recipe from Brennan's website. For those of you with an electric stove (like me), just ignite with a lighter.

Banana's Foster
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup banana liqueur
  • 4 bananas, cut in half
    lengthwise, then halved
  • ¼ cup dark rum
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
p_dessert.jpg
Combine the butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a flambé pan or skillet. Place the pan over low heat either on an alcohol burner or on top of the stove, and cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the banana liqueur, then place the bananas in the pan. When the banana sections soften and begin to brown, carefully add the rum. Continue to cook the sauce until the rum is hot, then tip the pan slightly to ignite the rum. When the flames subside, lift the bananas out of the pan and place four pieces over each portion of ice cream. Generously spoon warm sauce over the top of the ice cream and serve immediately.

My Mom's all-time favorite dessert is bread pudding. I honestly have never tried it. Just the name has always sounded icky to me. Maybe if they have it on the cruise, I'll try it. Oh yeah, that's just what I need...another "favorite" dessert! :guilty:

Oh...that's just CRUEL! I could reach in there with a spoon right now!

I was somewhere not too long ago, and they had the ice cream sitting on a crepe. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Let's take a vote.....how many of you think I should cook something that I need to IGNITE?? :scared1: :firefight

Just make sure the insurance policy is paid up!! :thumbsup2

A TOP shared with Stace talking about "burning down the house!"
