I think there are a few families on the thread that come to mind (Scubas, MickeyMo & Bo) where this doesn't apply. But, it sure does apply in our house.

it sort of...I didn't mow the lawn until John started back to school - even then I only did it for one year until I decided Mike was old enough to take over...I learned how to grill when he went back to school, too...

on the other hand - I called John to ask how to apply the iron-on adhesive to attach Maggie's Brownie patches - he had me on speaker phone for that one - his co-workers got a big laugh over that call...

Celebrate the small stuff - they're what gets us to the big ones!!! (Besides, I'll probably miss it...)

Let's just say my personality change a lot once I got to college. And all those guys that never gave me the time of day in high school all of sudden tried to talk when I'd see them in the bars. By that time, I didn't have the time of day for them!

DS came home from school yesterday crying. He is crossing guard for the week and was horsing around hitting rocks with the crossing guard sign and broke the sign. He has to pay the $15 to replace it. So, parents, any ideas on some things for him to do to work it off here at home?

I was thinking the same thing, because we don't really have any outside area to tend to either, and the boys think it's a treat to be outside. My thought was to give him "girl" chores.

And what would that be!!!!!!???????

edited to add: John grew up in a gender divisional household - very June Cleaver - down to the toys all picked up, everyone bathed and clean clothes so that when dad comes home, supper is on the table and everything ship shape....His father is very proud of the fact he has never changed a diaper - including his grandkids...

My Dad does more GK diapers than my mom.......my DH didn't do diapers because it made him sick but when the kids throw up he can handle that where I run for the next room!!!

Aubrey makes salad and shops if I ask, I'm sure he prays that I don't but I often do and then he does it without complaint.

If this applies - a few tips we have learned.....provide the Man with vegetables which can then be grilled. This removes one chore for the Woman and entitles the Man to another Beer.

Another tip - do the shopping together the insure there is enough Beer for the required work This removes yet another chore for the Woman and ensures that there is enough Beer to accomplish the results.

Substitute Beer for dessert (or Wine or Banfi) - this eliminates yet another step for the Woman, and makes the Man happy.

Eliminate Bread - after all there are carbs in the Beer.... And yet another chore for the Woman hits the dust...

Buy bagged salad to eliminate the need for the Woman to make the salad...And one more down....

Now there is little for the Woman to do so she can lounge in the chair outside with a Beer and her Man.

Can you tell we do not have kids.......

WARNING...I'm cranky today. But I have a vent.


I've glanced at the posts on the main boards, and now suddenly people are saying that once they have "thought it out" the Med cruises are really expensive, with airfare, excursions, etc.

DUH! My gripe is....Why didn't they all think about that before answering Disney's polls about where we wanted to see them take the Magic????

We could have been going to Hawaii. Bone heads.

Anyway, other than early seating is slightly smaller, the above is the same for us ( I hope ) . How did you get Debbie to make a committment?

Commitment about the rotation? I don't know, she just said "Okay, you got it." But she DID tell me that she wasn't sure she could seat us against the windows like we were at Christmas.

I feel a little better now and am not so cranky. Actually, Jay is a wonderful help, and a better cook than I am. Both of my brothers are also really great about doing all kinds of stuff for their wives, because my Mom made them help around the house, too.

All I know is that Jared would gladly be told to go outside and pull weeds, move rocks, whatever......he wouldn't learn a thing from that. But he would HATE to have to clean a toilet.
Both Jordan and Jared do the dinner dishes, though.

That's because the hype for them isn't carrying them along anymore, they realize thay actually have to pay for it. Now that the me too effect has worn off, there'll be some cancellations from that 75% sold figure that's floating around.

I've always thought going to the med was a bad choice and still say so. Part of that cruise takes you right near the north coast of Africa, where there's some of those countries you hear about in the news with the pirates/terrorists, etc.

Looking at the map of Africa, I may have to go take a geography course, I don't recognize some of the countries...

Or, I just might wait until the kids work on World Geography - I'm learning all sorts of US history from ds' 5th grade History lessons.

I would not, plus with the EUro being so strong it has to be pricey, I have travelled through Europe and you need more than port stops to see anything worthwhile - there is so much history etc etc.

But you did see sunny South Africa down there didn't you cause you will be amazed how many times we have to explain where it is and even if it is a country!!!!!!
