Have to help Sandi and Irene complete their 70s (and early 80s) American Pop Culture Experience...

Blues Brothers???
Saturday Night Fever???
Private Benjamin?? (not as good as stripes - but, still funny...)
I just watched the uncut Blues Brothers that I had TIVO'd. Our minister used clips of it in one of his Saturday evening sermons ('We're on a mission from God'). I was surprised when I had to enter our parental security code to watch it because it had a TV-MA rating on Comedy Central. I have seen Saturday Night Fever, but never have seen Private Benjamin. I missed out on a lot of those late 70's, early 80's tv shows, also.

OH NO!!!!!!!! Just looked at the NFL schedule and my favorite team, Carolina Panthers, will play the Baltimore Ravens, CodyJ's fav team. And if that is not a strain on the family relations, then the Panthers play the Steelers (another sister likes them)!

Sue

Gee - we get that quite a bit during baseball season - with the Cubs/Astros games... :cheer2: always makes for a bit of fun at the ballpark...Especially when Maggie and I show up proud in our Cubbie blue with John and Mike in their Astros gear...

And thanks to Stacey - I have a really cool hat!!!

:woohoo: A top shared with my family, Stacey, Sue's family, lots of NFL tight ends ;) and some insignificant Houston baseball team and my CUBBIES and a really cool hat!!!

Time for me to get something done other that DISing, like getting my big butt on the treadmill. I think I'll let DS do the vacuuming and dusting tomorrow as a start to earning the extra money he needs. Too bad that I just finished up the laundry yesterday, but there will be more of that soon.

DS came home from school yesterday crying. He is crossing guard for the week and was horsing around hitting rocks with the crossing guard sign and broke the sign. He has to pay the $15 to replace it. So, parents, any ideas on some things for him to do to work it off here at home?
How about picking up all the loose rocks around the area where the sign was broken......

I take it you don't know any I-talian people. Or maybe they don't talk like dat? I guess you have to be around family to hear that kind of language.

Don't tell anybody where you learned it, OK? I don't want to be responsible for carupting someone's mind.

My best friend's grandma was Eye-talian...Her specialty was homemade ravioli and Bagna Caulda...yum...Angela and I spent a weekend with her learning how to make Ravioli (sticking measure cups under her handfuls of flour and water - she never measured...) - she's the only grandchild who ever bothered to learn...so, we faithfully carry on the tradition. With our great big ravioli rolling stick and vinyl table cloth...

Our dads went to college together and would consume pans of freshly made ravioli on Friday nights - so, the stories have become family legends and winter traditions...while the number of pans have become greatly exaggerated...

Nope, didn't learn the more colorful language from her - now, if her grandpa was alive that would have been a different story... ;)

Here's your chance to pass off those jobs you can't stand to do...bathrooms, scrubbing the floor, how about raking leaves? weeding? Anything not fun...

I think you're my dad in disguise - a test on Senior skip day... :rotfl2: You don't happen to teach math, too..?

Yeah I do. 2+2=5, right? Naw, I teach foreign languages. (That is what first caught my eye about the name of this group!) :cool1: (BTW, the seniors were able to take the test on Thursday IF they talked to me about it. Several did.)

I know someon who had Guillain Barre, got it after getting a flu shot, he is all better now took a while to recover...

Thanks! That helps to keep our spirits up; the websites are a little scary when discussing it. :)

Speaking from years of experience and hundreds of swimsuits later - repeated washing with detergent will break down swimsuits faster and always manage to cause very thin spots in certain backside areas... water is best with an occasional very mild detergent wash like woolite or a specific swimsuit wash...(usually mail order from swimsuit companies like speedo, etc...).

I try and get a swimmer's shampoo and conditioner at Walmart early (before it sells out!) in the season and I tend to use it more for washing swimsuits than hair b/c it is so gentle on the suits. :sunny:

Don't know if you guys saw this on the main cruise forum, but WalMart has some excellent travel size items. Stopped there this morning and got a small size of the Downy Wrinkle Release and some single packets of Tide for use in the sink. Thought these would be great for swimsuits.

Mary, have you used the Wrinkle Release before? Does it work? Thanks for hte info. Looks like a trip to Wal-mart is in my future. Was everything in the section with the travel size stuff?

Oooh, that would take him a really long time...only thing is it's in town and we live 8 miles out of town.

We don't rake, no need when you're surrounded by open fields and have those nice country 'breezes'. We don't weed, either, with 3 acres. Hmmm, might take him awhile to weed 3 acres. Now cleaning the bathrooms might be good as would scrubbing the floor. He likes mowing the yard too much, but picking up all of those branches from the yard should take awhile. He already cleans the litter box, or at least is supposed to clean it. The henhouse really needs cleaning. I think that will be on the top of his list followed by bathrooms.

Time to go WalMarting. A trip to town; highlight of my week. I wonder how much a gallon of gas is today? Last time I was in town it was $2.59/gallon. Think I'll treat myself to lunch at Subway, too. Woohoo. Can't stand much more excitement.

Hello ALL

Today is the deadline for the shirts and bags!!!!

Please send in your orders today if at all possible. The sooner we get them ordered, the sooner everyone will have them back:sunny:

Wrinkle release is awesome! Great for easy to wear clothes; little more work and smoothing with hands to work on 100% cotton , but incredible when sprayed on an thrown in the dryer for 10 min.

My mom was a principal as well, and she checked me out of school for Senior skip day. What can I say? :cool1: (Normally, she was a hard-liner!)

:guilty: I miss Walmarting. :guilty: BK(before Katrina), we had one 2 minutes away on the beach. Now, it is one Walmart per every 50,000 people. Katrina took out 2 walmarts and 2 kmarts. Ouch. No more fun trips and wandering around aimlessly, buying things that I really didn't need. Hey, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing for me. ;) Haha, not. :furious:

I trying to officially "earn my ears" by trip time. I think I saw I will have to post 75 times.

Let's just say my personality change a lot once I got to college. ;) And all those guys that never gave me the time of day in high school all of sudden tried to talk when I'd see them in the bars. By that time, I didn't have the time of day for them!

Guess what. Today, I actually did teach geometry. You should probably feel very sorry for those kids. (Remember, I teach all things liberal arts. I can teach English, history, and 2 foreign languages. NO MATH! Yick.) :rolleyes1
