I guess the cold weather has not left Ohio yet because that was just plain cold.

Actually, it was beautiful here. That's why I've been gone most of the afternoon. We went ROLLERBLADING!!! ACK. My first time on rollerblades (other than in the store to test them) I did pretty well......except for the stopping part!!! HA HA HA

I did NOT end up in the ER....that was my goal.

At the risk of starting a cat litter war - scoopable cat litter is not used in our house at the recommendation of the vet -- ok, now how do I post this, female kitties can increase infections from the stickiness of the litter.....

whew. luckily i have a male kitty. or more like an IT kitty.

Yesterday's News - made from recycled newspaper.
Or Feline Pine - made from recyled wood.
Or regular clay litter without a scent????

Then there is the outside sandbox

We had yesterday's news when he had his declaw, but he couldn't cover his #2 very well. Just left a sticky mess with little pellets stuck on the sides!

Ok, actually the kitty litter question did not have anything to do with....the kitty. I just needed to know if anyone had that Sam's club brand so you could post the ingredients that are on the side of the container.

You'd better be sitting down for this one or you'll fall down laughing.

Mike had a kidney stone. He had horrible, colicky, intermittant pain. After a week or two it went away. Then a week later, he passed a stone.

It was small, but kidney stones, even small ones, can cause horrible pain.

He took it in to have it analyzed by the urologist (it's good to know what KIND of stone you have---uric acid, calcium something or other, etc etc)

They said it'd take a week to analyze (they send it to an outside lab)

In the meantime, we all teased him that it looked like a piece of kitty litter (do you know where this is heading??)

A week passes. No word from the urologist.
Two weeks pass. No word from the urologist.
Mike calls. Results are still not back.
Three weeks pass. No word.
FOUR weeks pass. Mike calls again. Both the receptionist AND the nurse say the results DID come in, but.....well....they aren't quite sure how to interpret them and the doctor won't be in until Monday.

Mike convinces them to fax him the report since he's a physician.

The report comes over.
It's not a uric acid stone.
It's not a calcium whatever stone.
It's not a (fill in the blank with 10 different kinds of stones)

It's.....it's.....it's.....quartz! Which is silica...

which, you guessed it...is a major component of kitty litter!

Best we can figure is Mike picked up the cat, a piece of litter got on him, he used the restroom and at the precise moment he was going, the litter fell from his sweatshirt!!!

Yes....I have been here most of the afternoon.

But we do think it's QUITE amazing that he can pee cat litter and we're thinking he should change careers and get a job with Tidy Cat!!!

What can we say but Thank You! That is a funny and very embrassing story. Sharon and I are both laughing at this one. Of course Sharon is already starting to store her comments for when she sees Mike on the boat.
